Looking like UT will get Cal in the Holiday Bowl.
WR Marcus Johnson just got off of the phone with Major Applewhite a few minutes ago. He is now officially #21.

Looking like UT will get Cal in the Holiday Bowl.
Of all the HS players that are indexed by Rivals, what percentage do they assess at each: 1-Star, 2-Star, etc? I assume some don't get any stars?
Curious as to how difficult it is to be ranked.
if texas targets an aggie it should be matt davis.
He would be impossible to turn. Addison is the one you would have the easiest time switching if you wanted to pursue one of our big recruits.
unfortunately, this one seems over. just posted from rivals -
"Five-star offensive tackle Andrus Peat from Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol said he wants to visit Florida State in December - preferably when the Seminoles are preparing for their bowl game - and then he'll take another trip to USC in January.
Peat, rated No. 14 in the 2012 class by Rivals.com, has already visited Nebraska and Stanford. There are still others involved in his recruitment but the 6-foot-7, 305-pound prospect doesn't have any other plans at this point to take other trips."
Some Sunday night updates...
**Take another five-star off of the banquet roster. DB Landon Collins said tonight that he will not be visiting Austin this weekend because his brother, who plays for a different high school (not sure why), will be playing in the Louisiana state championship game next weekend and he wants to be there for it. He says he has plans to re-schedule.
**The UT coaches are already on the recruiting trail and making in-home visits. Manny Diaz, Oscar Giles and Bo Davis all visited DT Malcom Brown earlier today. LB Tim Cole also received a visit.
Brown will not be forced out...he's a tenured coach, though it is a dying tradition. Worst case scenario would be if he's asked to retire.

Great question and I wish I knew more about what all goes into these rankings. In the big picture it is difficult to get ranked by Rivals. The majority of high school players don't get ranked at all and most don't even have a Rivals page. A slim percentage of kids go on to play collegiate athletics so it speaks to how good these kids are even if they're just a three-star. All I know is there are about 15 to 20 five-star kids per year on average and they're considered to be the ones most likely to have a major impact at the college level.
DE Alex Okafor has made first team All-American according to this coaching organization:

Darrell Wyatt and Stacy Searels will be at Tyler John Tyler HS today checking out their 2013 and 2014 prospects. Lots of good talent coming up over there.

(in the classroom and community arent updated =x2)
Indeed there is. I always keep up with them a little bit as they are here in my hometown. Fred Ross is a beast at WR and Greg Ward has really come into his own as a QB this year.
I've mainly kept an eye on Ward and Bowser but Ross has really made a name for himself this year. They may end up playing Lake Travis for the state le in 4A.

S/O to #Baylor enjoy this win! Cause its not going to happen Next year!
That about says it all. Love it.
Nothing to get excited about right now, but the staff has at least inquired about a QB from the JUCO level. QB Bo Wallace attends the same college as DT Brandon Moore (East Mississippi CC), is eligible to play Division 1 next year and is likely to be named the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year. Several school are calling his coach about him right now but Wallace says they have yet to hear from Texas. He mentioned he would "absolutely" be interested. Don't count on anything happening but know that the staff is aware of the guy and his success. I've linked his profile with some stats and also some video from the NJCAA championship game below:
