Meh, Americans memories are too short for that. Josh Hawley & Co will take a small amount now for their stance, and maybe they lose the Senate in the short term, but in 4 years nobody will care, and then they can push things even farther, until eventually they find a way to actually overturn legitimate election results.
I think it’s an ovwrsimplified opinion that Hawley will simply be able to capture Trump’s entire base + the Republican women who didn’t like Trump’s mean tweets. Fascism works with bombastic strongmen who shout and scream, not with charismatic Yale law graduates. Don’t see the low propensity rural voters who crawled out of their holes for Trump doing the same for Hawley or Cotton.

It’s a distraction. It’s another Ross Perot situation where you’re going to have cult candidates showing up and diluting the GOP candidate votes, or running trashing primaries against GOP candidates, which is a win-win for Dems.

If the RNC sticks with the cult (minus the cult leader, at least for midterms) instead they don’t have enough votes.

CoRonna McDaniels should really start looking into how Georgia and Arizona were lost, and what needs to change so they don’t lose the popular vote over and over. But the whole fraud canard has distracted from that.
Imo Georgia is still an uphill battle but Arizona is on the way to becoming the next Colorado. Shifting demographics, not a large enough rural vote, and a completely incompetent state Republican Party that’s gotten too extreme. Unless they replace Kelli Ward with a new party chair she’ll have another 4 years to destroy GOP support in AZ.

    Make that 12 senators.

By tomorrow night it'll be 20. And by Monday possibly all 50.

    Ah Lovely stuff.
Braun, one of the 11 senators who said Saturday that he would support challenging the results, previously predicted the effort wouldn't go anywhere in Congress and on Friday compared it to a "protest vote."
"In my opinion there’s zero chance that anything will come from it. The House is not going to overturn and I don’t think you’ll even get close in the Senate," he said on Friday.
Braun and the other 10 Republicans in their joint statement on Saturday____acknowledged that their efforts would ultimately fall short.
"We are not naïve. We fully expect most if not all Democrats, and perhaps more than a few Republicans, to vote otherwise," they said. "A fair and credible audit — conducted expeditiously and completed well before Jan. 20 — would dramatically improve Americans' faith in our electoral process and would significantly enhance the legitimacy of whoever becomes our next President."

So dog and pony show for the Chris Callesto rubes of the world

no. You might be right about it getting to 20 but it won’t even sniff 30 let alone 50.

This might be Trump bargaining. He's ppobably hanging the senate runoff over Mitch. If you want me to do that rally on Monday you better get some senators to go along with this.

That's something he would totally pull. This sudden shift from just Hawley to 11 senator in one day looks fishy to me.

I wouldn’t call it a sudden shift. Being the one who objects and forces a vote isn’t the same as just being someone who votes in favor of objecting after Hawley has already put his name out there as the objector. Now that it’s clearly going to be put to a vote someone like Marsha Blackburn whos entire platform is being an ignoramus can’t exactly vote in favoring of certifying the EC.

Theres a reason why McConnell didn’t want Hawley to object in the first place, he knew it’d snowball if every other senator in his caucus was forced to vote.

Ultimately none of these Senators will pay for what they’re doing. It’s not going to harm them in any way. And while they will fail this time, eventually they’re going to succeed, whether that’s in 2024 or 20 years down the road. But make no mistake, it’s coming.

The thing with coups is that you need both the courts and the military for it to work out.

I’m not saying it’s never going to happen (happened once already with the Civil War), but the conditions are not there right now.

The senators themselves aren’t going to pay but the Republican Party as a whole very well might.

The 2022 Republican primaries are going to be a bloodbath unless the GOP finds a way to reign Trumpism in. Someone like Murkowski is going to face a ton of pressure from her right to the point where she might need to go begging to Schumer for a deal to make sure she doesn’t get pressure from her left. Another senator like Rob Portman who’d normally coast to reelection in Ohio is probably the underdog against Gym Jordan in a primary.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I don’t think Trumpism is a blip that will be quashed. It’s the beginning of the end for America. Things are only going steeply downhill from here.

Or, 2022 ends up being the election where the GOP gets rid of the squishes and becomes the Trumpist party par excellence -- something it already, arguably, is.

I don’t see it. Midterm elections are ruled by suburban voters (ie educated people who are usually moderates one way or the other). It’s how the Dems cleaned up in 2018 + how the GOP cleaned up in 2010. You simply can’t expect enough low propensity rural MAGA voters to show up for a midterm election without a strong voice at the top of the ticket.

    you're kidding, right?

Losers like derp and Chris are absolutely mobilized and will follow every order they’re given. These are people that have never had a taste of being on the winning side of anything in life. These last 4 years all of the ugly Trump unearthed in an effort to own the libs has been the first time they have felt like they have won at anything.

that’s not going away. And the standard left not showing up to the polls will allow them to go even further this time.

This. Trump empowered millions of dip s who would have spent all their time watching football and youtube gun tutorials, and turned them onto the sport of politics instead. Now they’re in it for a version of WWE that makes them feel smart and cultured.

Look at early voting in Georgia so far. The areas lagging the most behind their early voting totals in the general election are the crazy MAGA areas (i.e., the congressional district that just elected a QAnon nut is only at 69.2% of its general election EV total vs. the urban Atlanta district that's at 81% of its general election EV total). The MAGA s simply don't turn out as much as they do with Trump on the ballot, no matter how much Trump campaigns for whoever is on the ballot.

If absentee ballots in Fulton County are getting processed by the same black women taking breaks to lather on more cocoa butter lotion every 15 minutes, not a ing chance those ballots all get processed within 24 hours of election day.

Not really. Just a few more days until Trump s realize Pence is a deep state plant and never trumper.
trump and co are 1-60 in court attempts post-election

the 1 win being that they reduced the time period to cure defective mail in ballots in PA from 9 days to 6 days. likely affected a few dozen ballots or so
