Law enforcement sucks at protecting property and creating public safety,
This I know, which is why I carry a firearm and believe in the 2nd Amendment.
in fact it presents significant danger to the public and creates crimes more or less willy nilly, homing in on the poor and low caste folks.

Might as well defund it, good riddance to smelly garbage.
Good luck getting anyone out to your place to remove your ex who's beating your windows out with a bat.

~80% of the criminal docket is public nuisance misdemeanors . Ever wonder why police are so bad at clearing property crime and violent crimes?

They're too busy collecting fees and fines for bull misdemeanors with a de minimis effect on public safety. Maybe public safety isn't the true mission of the police department.

I'm more than certain that a big component of the police role is to serve and collect. They are a money making scheme, and the protection offered in the process is a side business.

That's certainly true. Civil forfeiture has reached a greater magnitude than all reported robbery and theft in the US.

Rigid anti-taxation sentiment also tends to cause overreliance of fees and fines (e.g.,., predatory, extractive pollicing) for revenue.

Defunding police =/= aboiltion of police. That's a common strawman. There are abolitionists out there, from my own interactions it's not my impression they are numerous, ymmv.

Yeah, really. PDs need to be right sized and refocussed on serving public safety instead of policing racial caste and stuffing the municipal coffers with fees and fines.

Neither did Philando Castile. Or Breonna Taylor. Or Elijah McClain. I would say “I can go on for hours” but there’s so many examples that sadly I’ve forgotten most of their names.
If a cop shoots an unarmed person they should be tried in a court of law just like you and I would be, but just because there are unjustified shootings doesn't mean all shootings are unjustified, and until there's a legal outcome are you going to reserve judgement or kowtow to social pressure to join the chorus and grab your pitchfork?

Defunding doesn't mean reduced funding. It means no funding. If I declaw a cat I am not trimming the nails.

The term started out as abolishment, and because of how ing stupid it was, instead of just eating the sandwich the left began to shift the narrative to reallocation of funds. That's hardly defunding the police. It's more like how congress pretends they are moving funds from one pocket to another but while you're not watching they'll still do everything they were going to do anyhow with those funds. Defunding would be no funding, let's not pretend words don't have meanings.

The dictionary definition doesn't govern what's happening. In practice, defunding police means reducing their funding. Decertifying PDs is politically nonviable.

Minneapolis did float a trial balloon about decertifying MPD but quickly reversed course.

US police are trained less than other countries, where police are considered professionals and certified vs "just anybody" in USA can be a cop.

"Texas licenses 37 of the 102 lower-income occupations studied here. Its laws are the 21st most burdensome and require, on average, $253 in fees, 341 days of education and experience, and around two exams. Licensing fewer lower-income occupations than most states, Texas ranks as the nation’s 42nd most broadly and onerously licensed state."

    https://occupationallicensing.com/state/Texas/

iow, cosmetologists, and other low-end LICENSED occupations, get more training that the TX cops, who basically bunch of relative amateurs, under-trained, un-certified.

Except "defunded" police departments are still being funded.

the same legal system that constantly looks the other way regarding police, the ones who swept this under the rug for decades.

If that legal system did their ing job in the first place, and held police accountable for these shootings, there wouldn’t be any protests/riots right now. Don’t be purposely obtuse.

You couldn’t defend your own ty position so you went straight to deflection. Not my fault you require so little effort.
So you're not going to do anything about it, you're just offended by proxy.

thinking I need to defend anything against your meme attack

    Still avoiding
"bad things happened in the past so anything now is justified" isn't a viable rebuttal to my comments. Until you provide one I'll hold serve.
