What's up with the rumors surrounding Thomas Johnson?

Just rumors. Some say he his solid. Some say he is looking around. Happens every year. When they are from Texas they usually stay committed. It's the OOS prospects like Westerman last year that you have to worry about. Most were saying Cedric Reed was looking around last year and he was going to de-commit but he never did.
Floss, others what's your take on the TE position at Texas? Howard, Irby and Graham are gone next year. Texas is interested in 2012 Mesquite Horn TE Vincent Hobbs and could bring him in for an official visit in January.
Roll with me here, I'm thinking out loud. I'm OK with Hobbs, but I'd prefer Texas wait until next year before making some decisions at TE. I'm beginning to agree with others that Derrick Griffin might be too wiry to be a TE. He's a take regardless.
RSJ could play a number of positions, namely TE or DE. Again, he's a take regardless of position.
You're left with 2013 Red Oak TE Jeremiah Gaines and PCA TE / DE Christian Morgan. I think Morgan could be huge in Harsin' offense. He has the size to be an elite blocker at the position, and cause match up problems in the passing game. If Texas takes Morgan, and I hope they do, I could see him doing a lot of the dirty work in the offense. See the excellent LonghornScott pieces on the importance of a blocking TE in the Harsin system.
Gaines is said to have near elite hands. That would work at Texas, especially given our history. In my opinion, it might be Hobbs or Gaines as the the take at H Back. I say take the better receiver of the two, and it'll work itself out.
I can't see Texas taking Hobbs this year and taking Gaines, Morgan and RSJ next year. With the addition of McFarland, I think the the current TE group on the roster should be able to give Texas enough next year.
The 2013 class should be fascinating to watch, especially the top targets' position projections. Raulerson, A'Shawn Robinson, Darius James and RSJ could all be better on defense.

Texas has a difficult decision to make. Would be great if they could get both to commit, but I doubt it.

Thomas Johnson says he is "solid." People need to stop worrying.
I trust Harsin in choosing the right QB, though both would be nice.
Some notes from OrangeBloods...
**Things might be heating up with ATH Corey Coleman again. Wyatt called him earlier this week to catch up and talk about a potential offer:
"He said he's going to offer me and everything is going to happen really soon," Coleman said. As for what changed ... "He said a spot might be opening up."
"I don't really know. I still like Baylor a lot. I'm very loyal to them," Coleman said. "They (Texas) haven't offered yet so I'm not sure what that would do."
Now, we saw almost this exact same quote from Coleman a while back and nothing ever came about. It's unclear whether the staff is going to offer him no matter what or if he's a "Plan B" for someone that might be leaving the program. It's just another wait-and-see situation. I do think UT can flip him when/if they offer.
**A source that spoke directly with DE Mario Edwards over banquet weekend revealed that Edwards told him flat-out he was "pretty sure" he was coming to Texas. A second source was more confident and ended up saying "we'll get him." An official visit to OU is still scheduled for this weekend but there's remains talk that he may not end up going. FSU is expected to get the last official visit of Edwards' recruitment.
**RB Traylon Shead has decided that his next school will be Navarro JC after lots of speculation that he would be attending Colorado. He mentioned that transferring to another Division I school would cause him to sit out a year and he's more interested in immediate playing time.

I keep forgetting to mention this, but RB Brandon Williams of OU has decided to transfer closer to home and it sounds like Texas A&M will land him. He'll have to sit out a year but him and RB Trey Williams will be a nice duo to have.

are they both not making it, or still undecided? i know both were on the fence and i believe DGB had another commitment (i believe basketball). would be nice if neither made it.
and nice update on Edwards floss, that is exciting to hear the optimism. i'm trying to take with grain of salt in that guys get excited on their visits, but nonetheless huge news.
He would have to sit out two years if the transfers to A&M because they are still in the Big 12. Same goes for Darius White. Mack Brown even said so during his press conference.
I'm not positive, chronic. I just know that DGB has a big basketball game tonight and there's just been some rumors that Edwards might not go. We should know by tomorrow if they make it or not. Yes, take the Edwards news with a big grain of salt as he's been said to be an impressionable guy who has glowing reports after visits. He did genuinely enjoy his time with the 2012 crew, though.
out of four 5* players scheduled for OU trip, sounds like DGB and Diggs will not make it at this point. No clarity on Edwards yet though, although reports are he may cancel as well. Even if Edwards does make it, it is a major plus not having some of the other 5* players there (not to mention negative rumblings coming out of norman).
I saw where Diggs cancelled. He and DGB were hanging out in NYC this week so maybe that's an indication he's aware that DGB cancelled as well. Just so everyone knows, if he doesn't go to Norman this weekend, that's the second time he's had to skip an official to OU. His first one was supposed to be the weekend after he came to Austin for K-State. I looked up his basketball schedule online and the only free weekend he has until National Signing Day is January 13th-15th as he's already scheduled to be in Arkansas on January 21st. He might not make it back to Norman at all before it's time to make a decision.

10:30pm - by Andrew Gilman - Fatigue derails recruit Green-Beckham's visit
WR Dorial Green-Beckham, the top recruit in the nation according to Rivals.com, has canceled his visit to OU this weekend, says the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader. Green-Beckham said fatigue was the reason he was not going to make it to Norman. He's listed OU, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and Texas as his top choices.
Per Hook 'Em 24/7, 2013 OL/DL Jake Raulerson of Celina will be visiting Austin soon and he'll stop by campus to watch a bowl practice. Good to have him around the team because he'll be officially offered by the staff in a few weeks. His latest offer came from the new Ohio State coaches.

"We have previously reported that Texas' visit was a grand slam. Well, it was a Cecil Fielder like grand slam out of Tiger Stadium in the 1990's. Both visits have stayed very strong in the mind of DGB."
