The Timberwolves sent a protected 2008 second-round pick to the Spurs for cash considerations and guard Beno Udrih, whom the Wolves immediately waived.

He traded a second rounder for Beno?!?!?!
I missed this one, GOOD GOD a 2nd round pick. I would not have given up a bag of potatoes for Beno.

You can't help but laugh at the way the Spurs sent him out. He was traded to Minnesota for a "protected" SECOND round draft pick. It's not often you hear that phrase. What does it mean to "protect" a second round pick?

Well, as long as it's in the 50's you can have it, but we're not giving up that 39th pick in the draft.
It should read "As long as it's in the very high 50s you can have it, but we're not giving up that 56th pick in the draft.

Maybe Beno can make it somewhere in the NBA, but who was the last NBA point guard you could honestly call lazy and successful at the same time?

(NY): Does Beno Urdih get picked up by the Cavs? The Kid can really play!

John Hollinger: (3:50 PM ET ) I'd love to see Danny Ferry do that, he can shoot from outside and could really help them at the point.
