Whats funny is the entire time we are talking about playing opposite the wideout and you said Clark does not play opposite because he does not line up opposite of Wayne.

Good job with that one. Word it differently however you would like, but it still comes out the same with your moronic statements, like Welker will be the best ever.
    More reading comprehension failure.

Congrats on officially being dumber than 90210.

If Welker stays healthy for a 15 year career, at his current pace of 76 receptions per year, he would currently finish 2nd all time. Even a 10 year career at that pace would put him in some pretty elite company.

I guess if guys like Cris Carter, Andre Reed and Tim Brown are still waiting, Wes will too.
    We'll see.

We've seen quite a few dominant runs(4-5 years) over the last two decades by guys who don't have a shot IMO at making the HOF.

Herman Moore, Jimmy Smith, Issac Bruce, Torry Holt

The latter two have the better shot but they aren't anywhere near locks.

Then you have guys like TO and Ocho that will be in line behind Brown, Carter and possibly even Reed if voters ding for the circus atmosphere. And then guys like Ward and Carolina Smith who both have excellent resumes as well.

Plus, Welker will be looked at as a compiler, never the best at his position, etc.

It took Monk, who IIRC retired #1 in receptions at the time, forever to get in and the waiting line is only going to get longer for Welker.

    all good points.

"although he might not get in, Wes will finish with HOF consideration worthy numbers."

My guess is he'll end up being lumped in with guys like Derrick Mason and Keenan McCardell; the Hall of Very Good.

But he still is overrated. You put Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, or Davone Bess in the offense with Brady and tell me if they don't have similar numbers.
When did these guys automatically become better players than Jason Avant and Steve Breaston?

Avant is one of the most underrated WRs in the game.

I say it depends on his health. I guess we'll have a better idea 5 years from now, but if he continues this pace, I'm not sure how he doesn't get consideration.

fwiw, this hall of fame selector has a welker crush:

NFL's toughest player? Easy. Wes Welker......

Six snaps that came, as the Boston Globe's Albert Breer notes, just seven months and 17 days after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee. And just six months and 18 days after surgery.

Oh yeah, Welker also had his rotator cuff surgically repaired as well.

Yet there he was last night in Atlanta, catching two passes over the middle, in traffic. One went six yards. The other went 14. There would have been a third reception, but Welker was blown up on a bubble screen when our guy Randy Moss whiffed while trying to block cornerback Christopher Owens.

Perhaps more amazing than Welker's performance last night is the fact that none of his teammates are surprised. The rest of us assumed Welker would miss the first six games on PUP. His teammates knew all along that Welker would get himself squared away in the offseason and be back sooner than later.

...."No disrespect to any other receiver in the NFL, but man, he's the truth," said Patriots' 13-year veteran running back Fred Taylor.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, the Vikings still await the return of Sidney Rice and his hip from PUP.
