So you guys want to pay over 20million for Gasol? NO thanks, I rather take the chance on a hand full of euro prospects at 2million each. Its probably better if the Spurs just wait this contract madness out for a couple of year at which point these teams will be stuck with those deals.

Soooooooooo... that means Diaw is getting traded? Especially if Manu wants to come back at a steeper price?

I'll be fine with 2 yrs/$30 million for Gasoft .
If Tim is returning they can offer Gasol $18.5 million starting, probably in a 3 year deal, after salary dumping Diaw.

It would really suck if we lost Duncan, West, and Diaw this offseason. That's half our bigman rotation.

With Manu possibly wanting a raise and Gasol probably getting close to $18mil as projected, something has to give.

Boban can start, and Hibbert could be his back up.....throw in Ekpe Udoh as well, hmmmmm

    just stray thoughts
I'd rather have Willie Reed than Udoh. But that would be interesting.

Don't want Gasol for anything more than $10 mil, and looking at the rest of these contracts that isn't happening. Just roll the dice on bringing back the same group, pray for a miracle (Kiwi goes bananas, one of the young Euro rookies explodes onto the scene, Durant/Curry die, etc), and get to work next offseason when worthwhile FAs are available.

Here is a scary thought: Durant goes back to OKC and the Bulls sign and trade Gasol to them in exchange for Kanter.

Ridiculous. The Spurs have a better chance than if they had beaten OKC because KD knows that he's the missing piece.
Marc Stein and Buck Harvey have consistently reported that the Spurs lost their chance the moment the Spurs lost to OKC in the playoffs.

Welp! Sounds like Gasol is going to give in for probably taking a less salary, or they have suitors to get rid of Diaw/Mills. Just don't go to the Oakland at this point, Durant.

Wouldn't bother me much. OKC loses some athleticism while getting an even worse PnR defender.

A 36 year old earning that much and for that duration? Ugh.

That doesn't make sense to me. Why would he want to join the team he lost to. Joining Goldenstate makes him look weak. If he lost to the Spurs, why would he have wanted to join? It would have made him look worse. I don't know, maybe this guy really is a beta.

That's where I'm at. I really don't want Gasol especially at close to $20 million/yr for two, three years, with him being 36 years old already especially if it hamstrings the team next year

I'm guessing Spurs and Pau agree to a 1+1 deal in the range of 30-32 mil, trading Diaw will be inevitable -- to the Hawks is my guess for a 2nd or a 1st round pick. Then SA will use the space to sign Gasol for 15-16 mil per, and use the rest to attract T.Jones, W. Reed or re-sign West to fill in Diaw's spot at the back up PF.

I want to see him go. OKC would crumble (still would be good, WB would go nuts next year) from contender status and it would be bonkers to watch KD/GS.

However, SA likely isn't a favorite anyways next year. This would give SA a year to see how GS turns out then really make plans to aggressively improve next year (When SA would likely have to do their work anyways).
I rather see how GS turns out with some players ageing and some players leaving. There isn't much the Spurs could do for years to come if Durant goes there.
