Calm down. You're getting very emotional in your defense or everything Russia is doing.

How is supporting Ukraine hurting you personally? The US in general?
What you write is an example of psychological projection. Again, I don't defend everything Russia. You have serious issues if you can't understand this.

The war is a massive cost among many other massive costs our country incurs that it can't really afford. This is a financial ticking time bomb being given to the next generation.

You haven't really posted anything against Russia -- certainly not as forcefully as you have against Ukraine.

That's what the last four generations said.

Raise taxes on the rich back to where they were before Bush and Trump blew up your debt. I'm sure you voted for both.

In general, this is money well spent.

...(you) said that 3 next generations ago. Nothing has changed in the regimen. Nary a thing. Nothing. I got to see "a financial tick time bomb" explode before I buy any of it.

I've condemned Russia many times. Your brain must switch off when reading it because you don't want to believe it I guess.

I was too young to vote for Bush, but I've called Bush the worst president in the history of the country (while he was president and still).

I have not and will not vote for Trump, so you can sleep well at night since this is so important to you.

Bad for the financial health of the country.

By the way, I won't forgive Biden or Bush for the Iraq War. What a historic disaster.

    As for treaties with Russia:

    Russian–Ukrainian Friendship Treaty

The Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was an agreement between Ukraine and Russia, signed in 1997, which fixed the principle of strategic partnership, the recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, and respect for territorial integrity and mutual commitment not to use its territory to harm the security of each other. The treaty prevents Ukraine and Russia from invading one another's country respectively, and declaring war.[2] Due to the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014, Ukraine announced its intention not to renew the treaty in September 2018.

China Removes Russian Firms From Airliner Project

Beijing has quietly dropped Russian firms from its project to build a new intercontinental widebody airliner following multiple delays caused by Western sanctions against the Kremlin.

Moscow had hoped to cooperate with China to build its first wide-body airliner since the Soviet era, using Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation as the leader in its part of the project.

It was expected that the CR929 airliner, jointly built by China and Russia, would compete with intercontinental aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Airbus with between 250 to 350 seats and a 12,000 km range.

The project has encountered repeated setbacks on the Russian side because Moscow’s aerospace industry has been heavily sanctioned following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Now, according to the South China Morning Post, China has finally excluded Russian partners from the C929 airliner project.

The CR929 model designation was supposed to represent the countries participating in the project (C – China; R – Russia). However, China has already removed R from the name, promoting the plane as the C929.

The Chinese developer of the airliner – Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) – no longer mentions Russia as a participant in the project and is promoting the aircraft as an exclusively Chinese development.

The bulk of what we're giving is not old stuff sitting in storage now. This is stupid. This idea that the newer stuff we're giving needs "testing" and so should also be given is also stupid because most of the newer stuff is tested already. We're also paying billions in financial aid just to keep the economy and government of Ukraine afloat. There is no path to victory for them if we define victory as the total reclamation of all territory lost. Even some in Ukraine are beginning to realize this, but clearly not Zelensky or you.

Well, bub, that's how we're going to (define) it. That was the standard at the first, and I bronzed it on-the-spot to make damn sure you couldn't revise it to suit your . And we ain't changing. That's the linePERIOD

25 billion committed for financial aid to Ukraine so far is peanuts, the EU committed three times that. After fall of USSR USA lowered spending on defense from 5% to 3%, it's still bellow 4% now. A peace dividend after Russia fails will cover any short term expenses for USA and then some. It's an investment - sometimes you have to spend some money to make money. And this is as cheap of investment you can make, with basically no downsides. Every Russian tank, plane and ship Ukraine blows up is one less peace of hardware USA needs to worry about.

We're also making a lot of money with things like LNG exports though (https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=55920). Something that will disappear as soon as Russia is allowed to export energy back to Europe.

I can't see Russia agreeing to anything if sanctions like that are not lifted, this is why this conversation is largely academic.

LNG exports to Europe won't disappear simply because of lifted sanctions. Changes in the energy market taking place in Europe are structural. Europe is diversifying its sources of energy regardless of the future relationship with Russia.

For example, see the latest massive gas deal signed with Qatar.

Qatar has agreed to supply S in the Netherlands with gas for 27 years, the second such deal with a European buyer in a week, as the Gulf state competes with the United States to help Europe replace lost Russian supplies.

S 's agreement is identical to a TotalEnergies deal last week with QatarEnergy to supply France. Both are Qatar's biggest and longest gas supply deals with Europe.

It's simple economics. If there's nothing stopping Europe from acquiring Russian oil products (in this case, sanctions), they'll just get the gas/oil where it's cheaper, which is Russia, due to simple logistics.

Oil was 40% of Russia's entire economic output before the war. There's no way they agree to anything without those sanctions lifted.

...they don't care about the sanctions, El. This is their last chance to get Ukr. Once NATO marries Ukr---Russia is SOL.
