Since nobody really fears Jerry Stackhouse, and since they are probably a better team without him, there was no outcry, and subsequently no suspension. I think it starts from the top down. I think Cuban's stupidity infiltrates the entire Mavs organization. Avery is just a mentally weak coach and is susceptible to Cuban's idiocy. As far I can remember, Nellie obviously wasn't. I think Cuban will find himself selling the team after he fires the next coach after Avery and can't turn the team around to championship-level basketball again (two or three more years tops). He just interferes too much into the court decision-making aspects of the team.

Avery needs some time as an assistant somewhere to learn how to more mentally tough and how to better interact with players. But I think he has shown flashes of what it takes to be a good coach, he just needs more training.
