RB Dontre Wilson has said he will be in Austin for the first Junior Day.
Former Texas OL coach, Mac McWhorter, has accepted the same position at Penn State.

RB Dontre Wilson has said he will be in Austin for the first Junior Day.
Quotes from 2013 DB Marcell Harris per Hook 'Em 24/7. He's still saying he plans to return to Austin next month for the first Junior Day. A reminder that his UT offer will become official the day after National Signing Day (February 2nd).
“It's a lot of tradition right there with Texas,” Harris said. “It's a good school and good state to be in. Down the line, like the other schools that offer me, I'll always be looking at them.”
“Any school that makes me a priority, I'm blessed to have that chance,” Harris said. “There are a couple of guys who should be getting offers at the same time who are pretty good. We'll all be there together at the (Texas) junior day.”
“I didn't think they were going to come out and be that fast (the UT defense),” Harris said. “The defense moves around a lot and Coach Akina gets the (defensive backs) right. I think they have some safeties who are leaving, so that's an intriguing opportunity.”
“I'll probably start narrowing during the end of the summertime,” Harris said. “I want to get a look at as many schools as I can and get a feel for everything. After the summer I want to have a top five and then commit some time after that.”

I'm sure something will surface on this tomorrow.
Everyone will be invited.
I just want Texas to pursue great talent and the 2013 in-state crop of DEs is looking subpar so far. There can always be some late-bloomers but I'm glad Texas is at least looking at Ward.
Thanks for keeping up with the junior day list. Makes it easy to follow.
Barrett is going to be in Waco on the 29th. Texas Tech and Nebraska just offered him.
No problem at all. Helps me remember what's going on. Barrett is going to pretty much have his pick of school whether Texas enters the picture or not. I hope the Horns decide to at least bring him in for a visit. Read tonight that UT has also invited 2013 QB Richard Lagow of Plano in for Junior Days, but it's unclear which one right now. He mentioned he hasn't had any direct contact with Texas in over a year, but a coach stopped by his school with an invitation. Odd development to say the least.

Add 2013 LB Naashon Hughes (younger brother of OL Camrhon Hughes) to the list for the first Junior Day. He will get his offer.

Quotes from 2013 DE DJ Ward of Lawton, OK. It's obvious that Texas is behind right now and things are in the beginning stages. He also has invites from OU and Oklahoma State to attend their Junior Days.
"I just got a call from Texas a couple of hours ago," Ward said Friday afternoon. "They said I've been approved so I'm guessing in a way they offered. They wanted me to come down for some junior days they have planned. I forgot the date exactly but I think it's sometime in early February."
"I still have some things to work out before I can go to any of them," Ward said. "I just have to find out what my family is doing and how I'm going to get there and get back and things like that."
"This is like their first time to say anything to me so they still aren't really up there," Ward said. "They're at least in the top eight but they're not in the top five or top three or anything like that."
"I didn't know what to expect. It's just happening and I'm sitting back and watching it all," he said. "I like it. I get to see different coaches and hear what they have to tell me and inviting me out to their schools. It's a good deal."
"I've been to a couple of games this past season. I went to a couple of OU games, OSU, I went to a TCU game," Ward said. "The atmosphere at all the places was just fun and great to be around."
Grrr, TCU being proactive.
Recruiting percentages for the 2013 class from Inside Texas:
http://insidetexas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27868
Texas did try to get him on campus for some games this season, so I'm not sure why he's saying he's just now hearing from Texas. Maybe he's referring to direct contact with the staff versus communication with his coach. Glad to know UT has been on this one longer than we thought.
Per Hook 'Em 24/7, Darrell Wyatt did make a trip to Missouri to see WR Dorial Green-Beckham as expected and things continue to be very positive. He ended up doing yet another in-home visit with the Beckham family and UT was the only school present on Saturday (Arkansas and Mizzou visited Friday evening). Sounds like OU wasn't around at all and the thought is they are pretty much out of the race. Bobby Petrino of Arkansas is scheduled to make his in-home visit some time this week and he's still trying to get DGB on campus for an official visit before National Signing Day. No word yet on when Mack Brown plans to make a trip to Springfield.
Two new names to keep in mind for the 2013 class from Hook 'Em 24/7:
TE, Corey Mangus, Garland Rowlett (6-5, 215)
-originally from Iowa, not sure how long he's been in Texas
DE, Daeshon Hall, Lancaster (6-6, 220)
-moved to Lancaster before the 2011 season from Seattle area
HuskerOnline (Nebraska site) had a blurb on 2013 QB JT Barrett recently in which they asked him about his relationship with Texas. Barrett supposedly had a long talk with Bryan Harsin last Thursday about UT's plans for the 2013 class. Not much detail was given as to what was said, but it sounds like things could get going with Barrett again if the staff doesn't like what they hear from Swoopes at the first Junior Day. They may also decide to bring Barrett in no matter what, but it's simply too early to tell right now. With that said, I think things with Swoopes will be positive and I expect the staff to pursue him for a while.
So Petrino is going to burn his official visit on the week of January 16th. Just a gut feeling, but it feels desperate. I'm not saying it's Arkansas' last shot, but I'm saying that Petrino feels a strong urge to use his in home visit 2 weeks before Signing Day just to get DGB to make an official visit. For a team that is is supposed leader for DGB, it's an interesting move.
Another shrewd recruiting move by Coach Wyatt to go on Saturday to get the Beckhams all to himself. I think Wyatt has played DGB's recruitment as well as he possibly could. The fact that Texas is even a finalist at this point is a testament to Wyatt's skill as a recruiter.
I read that also. I'm not sure if you can compare Ward to Turner or Cobbs, both seemed to really like Texas from the get go. If Manny gives Ward his full and undivided attention, I like Texas' chances to get into the mix.
Those measureables really jump out at you. I think Reggie Wilson could be Texas' last DE under 6'3'' for a long time. The staff seems to really like the big SDE types.
I like what I read about Mangus, 6'5'' and a fluid athlete. Texas really needs to consider how they recruit TEs. 6'2'' high school WRs ain't getting it done.
That sounds pretty consistent with what I've gathered on Barrett and Texas. I think he's willing to wait on Texas until Swoopes makes a decision. I think Barrett would even come to Texas with Swoopes already in the fold, but Swoopes definitely wouldn't like that. It sounds like Texas is playing this the right way. Harsin seems to be upfront and honest with his communication with Barrett.
Texas will get either Swoopes or Barrett. It's a win - win.
So Cayleb Jones did lose his 5th star on rivals and Malcom Brown did end up with his 5th star. So according to rivals we will have two 5 stars: Gray and Brown.
Washington made a HUGE hire today by stealing the former Rivals "Recruiter of the Year", Tosh Lupoi, from Cal. They also took defensive coordinator, Justin Wilcox, from Tennessee recently. Sarkisian getting serious about his defense after Baylor took them to the woodshed in the Alamo Bowl.

State schools in California have always had trouble paying their coaches well. Another casualty. Big pick up for U Dub.
Rivals has DGB scheduled to visit Arkansas on 1/20 is that a new date or the one he cancelled?
