Probably shouldn't leave her alone with Tony tbh.
Don't think a Serbian chick would go for a metrosexual frenchie.

Marjanovic was a big time prospect when he was young. He dominated a player like Ajinça when they were 18 years old. He went undrafted because he was awfully slow and in poor shape. He worked a lot on his body over the years to reach the level he is today.

It's a really nice gamble for Spurs. He isn't just a big guy, he is a talented basketball player. If he can adapt to the rhythm of the NBA, he will be a huge steal.
... if he doesn't do a Ming and crack his feet or leg bones.

    Scouting Report:

    https://basketballscouting.wordpress...outing-report/

Marjanovic was coached to slide back on the pick-and-roll and leverage his size to contain dribble penetration and as a result Red Star allowed the fewest points at the rim per game in the Euroleague.

Marjanovic led the Euroleague and the Adriatic league in defensive rebounding rate (grabbing 33% of opponents’ misses) and ranked fifth in the Eurocup.

Marjanovic is even a surprisingly poor screener, often contracting himself to set the pick as if he is afraid that he will get called for an illegal screen every time. Navigating around his screens should be a massive task for opponents as he is a huge target but that’s not the case at all, as sometimes Marjanovic has to even bend his knee and slide laterally to make contact with an opponent, although some of that is on Crvena Zvezda’s ball handlers for not giving him enough time to set position and use the proper angles.

    Hi from Europe.

This guy was Shaq of Europe this year. A fascinating power and upper body, his size and physical shape is enormous. Can tip/slam the ball anytime, his BB IQ is high and he was the best center of season.

He's slow as predicted and he is not too athletic which is not needed in his size. He is really a perfect addition for Spurs which fills a very big need in center position. We can throw him through the guys like DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard.

    Tony,Mcullom
    Green,Manu/Mills
    Kawhi,Anderson/Diaw, Reggie Williams 2.0
    Aldridge,West
    Timmy,Boban, Baynes 2.0

I think the Spurs are done treating Anderson and Diaw as 4s. Seems pretty risky. I think there's a considerable injury/slump risk in the bench. Manu/West are going down, maybe Boban. McCullom/Anderson is gonna slump, book it. I don't think Aldridge/Duncan is sooo much of an upgrade over Diaw/Duncan. I especially run my tongue against plaquey teeth, when it sets in that it took turning Anderson/Splitter into West/Boban. All the while, keeping Diaw and Anderson, to play behind Kawhi. And trading in Cojo for McCullom. But the thing about the trades is, there was no trade. hardly any return. just lopsided switching.
    this is the point, chump

I think you may be right. I feel much more comfortable with this lineup than with KA at this point. KA is gonna have to step it up big time here on out. I wonder who is higher up the ladder in Pop's mind right now. Someone with Boban's resume and age or KA and his corporate knowledge and tenure. Then again Splitter was a Euroleague MVP and rode pine the first year.
I see Boban as being situational matchup based. It's also possible the Spurs still pick up a shooter somewhere. Manu is not going to play82 games and Mccallum can be your SG situationally only against 2 PG lineups. I still think Kyle plays, but it will not be a bad thing at all for him to develop more. For sure he will have to be balling out there to make Pop consider him. It's also possible the team has a lot of blow out minutes to hand to him for development.

Boban Marjanovic scored a basket in his short 3 minutes of action.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had 15-25 DNP-CDs and averaged less than 15 minutes a game. Duncan, Aldridge, West and Diaw equal a lot of minutes, and of course Kawhi smallball and Bonner stretch 4 minutes.

But he'll be there when the spurs need him and call on him.
I don't expect much from BOBAN in the first season. 1) It'll take him time to adjust to the much faster game. 2) The Spurs are stacked with four damn good bigs ahead of him. 3) The Spurs have incentive to keep his value down in order to sign him to a bigger contract in the offseason.

But, man, getting a damn good center prospect or $2 million? That's insane.

I wouldn't be surprised if other teams were offering more. But BOBAN could have realized that Pop will allow him to acclimate at a reasonable pace rather than getting thrown into the fire with unreasonable expectations.

Intersting that Spurs initially wanted to get Marc Gasol, but because he wanted to stay in Memphis, targetted Aldridge instead.

Marc at 7'2" isn't really a high jumper or a fast player, but he's really effective at what he does.

Here is the NBADraft scouting report for Marc:

Weaknesses: Unlike Pau, Marc is a below average athlete ... Heavy legged player who will need to improve his foot speed to play in the NBA Lacks fluidity in his movements as he is a bit mechanical Must continue to work on conditioning his body as he appears to be carrying a little extra weight A focus on strength training could improve his overall mobility greatly Lacks the explosiveness to be even a decent shot blocker at the NBA level Not a very good rebounder out of position, as he possesses below average lateral quickness Post defense has improved greatly this year but still struggles when having to guard top athletes Offensively his execution in the post is slow which allows opposing defenders to recover quickly, must learn to make moves more decisively Can be a little foul prone Not a great help defender by any means as he is often late on the play Even though Gasol is a late bloomer who has yet to reach his potential hes made big strides in the past year.

In short, Boban could be a really good player in the NBA despite his lack of speed. Remember, Marc Gasol won defensive player of the year!

its funny that some people don't understand the concept of a 5th big, tbh..there aren't many 5th bigs in the NBA that get real playing time in meaningful games..

yeah but calling him the 5th big doesn't change the fact that he's the only reserve center we have.

objective, how does Marjanovic compare to Oberto?
Oberto didn't have a pick and roll, but his picks were jarringly good.

Oberto DID have a pick and roll and a very good one considering his non-existant leap and non-existant midrange game. What he didn´t have was the pick and pop option.
