Apparently the possible trade will more than likely only include Belinelli. Source doesn't know for who still or if it's a sign and trade worked out with Boston for Marcus Morris. If I receive any more information I'll definitely post.
    Beli for Faried ?

For - Balances the roster (Faried has played a bunch of 5). Beli would fit in Houston's style of play. Money works, and is more than Faried could expect otherwise at this point.

Against - I wouldn't describe Faried a "Forward who can shoot beyond the arc".

I would do it for SAS.

Metu? I'm still not sure that's enough.

If it means having Morris locked up for 2 years (third year player option, S&T has to be at least a 3 year deal) then I'm all for it.
This is key imo. If Morris is as good a fit as it appears you don't want him leaving after just a season, and also a 2 year commitment at the MLE (avg league salary) is not crazy. Plus 2 years fits the Aldridge/DeRozan window.

If they do a sign and trade that involves Belli and Morris, and I don't know how the numbers match up on that trade, then does that open up the mid level again? If that is the case, they are spending it on a big as that is the roster need. They also could get a back up point guard as the only two point guards we have are Murray and White and both of those guys had injury issues last year. I don't think they want to use Forbes or Mills as the point guard.

I doubt they trade LMA or DD. They shouldn't. While neither is a superstar that will win a le on their own, the depth of this roster and its flexibility makes them capable of winning a le with SA. Things would have to go their way, but it is possible this team is good enough to win.

    DD + Beli + ??? For K Love

For : The money works. K Love can shoot the 3.

Against : Would require the FO to be aciously confident in the young guards. CLE would want picks (plural) as well...

    Can't see it happening myself.
Love is owed $90M over the next 3 seasons. DD is owed one year's salary, as is Beli. You don't get picks for a salary dump.

I don't think that's happening. I think Morris is on the Rudy Gay plan... 1 year at the MLE. Next 1 year non-bird rights (up to previous salary X 1.2) . Then early bird rights (up to previous salary x1.75 )....

Would you rather have Bertans or Carroll?
So you want to completely screw Carroll over and destroy the franchise's reputation over Davis Bertans?

They've held onto K Love in preference to a salary dump before; they appear to see him as a valuable piece. They will WANT picks. Not saying they are going to get them: "Can't see it happening myself".

I'm sure they'll ask, but the market won't give them any. I mean, is Kevin Love even that good? He has to be hid on defense and he lost his low post scoring. I've not seen him play a lot in Cleveland, but it seems like he wasn't even that great a three point shooter in the games I saw. I don't really see him as a star or something that moves the needle. I'd rather than Gay at the 4 than Love.

The Spurs aren't going to go back on an agreement and piss off agents and players. Hard enough getting free agents without starting that show.
Besides being a move and completely unprofessional there would probably also be serious sanctions from the league for reneging on an agreed to deal. I would take away draft picks from a team who did something so chicken if I was Silver.

Of the remaining FA's there is Koufous, Evans and Stephenson not mentioned.

    For a reason, i guess.

    Lance Thomas is intriguing.

No reason to expect that Morris wants to give up a chance at a big payday next off season when the free agent market looks to be incredibly weak.

I guess Love would qualify as a 'forward who can shoot' but that's still a substantial long term commitment.

Lots of other alternatives out there which would require much less imo.

Bertans shrunk in the playoffs. Not reliable. It was time to go. Plus he was complaining about his role when he was getting pushed around and made Milsap's .

Exactly. The PO after one year certainly pointed to Morris wanting more money next off season. I don't think he wanted a 3 year deal.

I can't see the NBA caring. See the Clips, the Mavs and DeAndre Jordan in the summer of 2015... I agree though, that it would be thoroughly unprofessional and the Spurs wouldn't do that to an FA.

He has zero value defensively in today's NBA. He's a stretch 4/5 offensively, and they DO kind of grow on trees these days. Nothing special offensively, any more. If they salary dump him now, they can rent out that cap space starting next summer, the way that OKC did back in the day, and later Philly copied. That can turbo charge your rebuild, getting those extra picks. IIRC, Ibaka was a 20ish first round pick obtained by renting cap space.

That being said, I don't want him. He would clog the cap when we need to pay our youngsters.

Evans. As in Tyreke Evans, who's on a 2 year drug use suspension?

Honestly, unless the trade substantially moves the needle, no one should be OK with trading any of our 3 main young players. All are on rookie scale deals, all have high ceilings. There's really no reason to trade those unless the trade puts you in position to challenge the Clippers as the best team in the West. IE if Golden State calls you to trade Steph you listen, but for Covington? Lol no.

Yes, I am aware of the arguments in favor of such a move. However, CLE has had the opportunity to make such a move several times over. They haven't done it... Therefore, they don't agree with your reasoning!

Thanks. My guy said RC is holding this one closer than the others. However he said Davis was pretty well known to be gone.
