Texas coach Charlie Strong had a closed door meeting with athletic director Mike Perrin this morning. A high level source tells Orangebloods the purpose of the meeting was to make sure Strong and Perrin were on the same page, which included the administration's expectations for the program.

Last week four-star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander backed off an early committed to Florida. Now he’s becoming one of the most sought after guards in the 2017 class.
After fielding calls from 46 schools since his decommitment, Gilgeous-Alexander, according to a source, is considering eight schools -- Florida, NC State, UNLV, Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Syracuse.

He's about as real as they come, outside of Saban or Meyer when it comes to coaching IMO. Plus he knows UT which is Big! But you have to be for sure correct... I'd throw a feeler at John H and see what happens first. Herman lost to Navy, who's 5-1 and top 25 on the road. SMU happens sometimes, especially with the injuries he has. he's running Ward out there with a bum shoulder who can't throw more than 20 yds right now. He's 19-3 at UH and beaten some pretty good Teams. Sure you want a more seasoned coach, but i don't see it happening.. Dabo's going Alabama after Saban. He's probably not coming to Texas, but sure you ask. Who else?? UW coach is sticking in the NW. Texas just cant get a coach by being "Texas" like most people claim. To much crap behind the scenes.

I did say he's not as seasoned as you'd like. But, for what he's done in a short period of time, it's pretty impressive. I'm not slamming on the brakes with him, but tapping the brakes is fine. There is 3-4 better options out there IMO, but still will they come to Texas??

Agree 100%. How many more games can Herman lose and still be the hot commodity that he is right now? He's probably got 1 more coming in Louisville. If he loses 4 does his star lose some luster? I agree Charlie's time is up, just not completely sold on Herman.

OrangeBloods reporting Strong had a special team meeting with the upperclassmen today.

Two important points made were doing a better job of leading the young players and basically they need to win out or else.
