Duncan is the franchise and he currently has no protection out there. He goes down all this talk is academic. If he feels he needs a stronger presence in the middle with him and Malone wants to play, is he being a traitor by talking to the guy about playing in SA? Don't be absurd. Mass is old, Horry plays a different style, Rose is inconsistent, Rasho is Rasho, and Marks often looks like a chicken with his head cut-off. Who could blame TD for exploring the Malone option?

The better question is, is TiMVP a traitor?

Your organization does one thing you don't like and you turn your back on it and question all the hard work that they did in the past for one decision.

Karl Malone isn't Hitler. (Maybe Mussolini) Short of him being that I really don't think it's excusable to threaten to give your tickets away (though if you are, I wouldn't mind a few extra).

That's just a post in the same light as yours.

Not serious, but just as valid.

I think TD owes it to his teammates to try to give his team the best possible chance to win the championship. If that means having a HOFer to back him up, then that is ok with me. I think TD knows more about what his team needs or does not need than you and I do, so let's just give him the benefit of doubt here, and wait and see what happens, shall we?

The Spurs could waive LJ III and still keep up his rehabbing. Thus, no one get backstabbed except for the stabbing pains in the heads of the fans when the media turns it into the Malone show.

I will say that it being February 7th and Malone having yet to reach a decision is somewhat annoying.

This team as it stands has the best record in the NBA and frankly I don't seem them losing in a 7 game series against anyone else in the league.

Should Malone join the Spurs then I doubt he would be a lockerroom distraction. But he's a distraction right now. Pop and RC need to stop kissing his ass and set a firm deadline. Pop's already alluded to it being time for a decision from Malone, judging by a quote of his in a recent article.

I dont think he is I beleive that Pop and Duncan are doing
what they think is best for the team. And what will give us
the best chance to win a Championship (depth). I admit I too
dislike Malone. But as with Horry I think I could come around if
he actually played his ass off. Besides who could be more hungry
for a Championship then a guy who has been in the league for 100
    years and hasnt won one.

There are 34 games left. Malone won't take all of Malik's or Massenburg's time (25 MPG), so Malone plays less than 10 MPG, I bet.

34 x 10 MPG = 340 minutes = 7 games as a Spur, and more of the same limited MPG in the playoffs, and then he gets a ring as a Spur. That's what a brazen, shameless, grovelling band-wagonner looks like. him, we're 34-10 without his help, will go 66-16 without his help, and win the le without his help. He's too late with too little, him.

If Tim or Rasho goes out for the season, Karl can sign on then and get ready to work his butt off trying to make a real contribution, not a token contribution.

To me it seems like Tim Duncan is scared to be a vocal leader, but he has no problem back stabbing half the team.

    Nice.
I seem to recall that other players (DROB) have been used to woo new draftees, attract free agents, and to encourage players to remain with the Spurs (TD) when their contracts were up without being called traitors or backstabbers.

If TD thinks Malone will help more than Marks or Massenberg, its no more backstabbing than choosing a better player for your pickup team than your best friend.

In fact, that's worse because it's only a pickup game, but in the NBA, you're playing for real marbles.

If TD was selling Shaq or Jason Kidd on coming to the Spurs last year, you wouldn't have made the same argument that he was a traitor. You've let your hatred for Malone carry you over the line on this one.

Uh if Malone comes to SA he plays at least 30 minutes a night, if not more.

I have been coming to this forum for a while, and for the most part I've kept pretty behaved, but come on you pompus ass es(if the shoe fits) this is Karl Malone we are talking about, even if he plays half as good as he has previously, you would still get 10 pts and 5 rebounds, besides Tim, that is the most your getting from anyone in the front court. Quit watcing your soaps and come to reality. San Antonio is a better team with Malone.
Pop know that Tim knows that, even David R knows that, and believe me they know more than you.

Robert, TMass, Malik avg 42 MPG combined, and Mal One walks in an immediately averages 30 MPG? GMAFB

Our bigs aren't that bad, and Mal One, not familiar with the Spurs system, isn't that good anymore.

This is the middle of the season. The Spurs have best record in the league. It's a huge difference.

Malone will probably start within a couple weeks and will average at least 30 minutes in the last month of the season and into the playoffs.

How is it my organization? I enjoy watching the local basketball team. If I no longer enjoy it, I won't watch it.

It's not a big blow to me and they'll win or lose the games in the future with or without me.

Why would the Spurs add him if they did not eye him as a replacement for some of the current players in the rotation? He averaged something like 35 minutes a night in the regular season last year and then 40+ in the postseason. If he's brought in then no doubt physically he will be capable of playing those heavy minutes again.

Also, why would Malone join the Spurs if he didn't get a significant role?

Tim isn't going to catch for this in the locker room. The four guys who stand to lose minutes that are on the roster right now are guys with enough experience to know that the NBA is a business above all else. , Tony Parker was how old when the Spurs were wining and dining Jason Kidd and he managed to get over pretty quickly.

With that said, I will take this opportunity again to say that signing Malone is a bad idea.
