Yes. Because as I say before and am call liar old rank was base on years in past. It was base on before rest of world improve. New rank is base on since rest of world improve.
Even though US win gold medal they still not as good Argentina in last 8 years.

When Serbia is #1 in 2002 Americans says "no look at ranking we are #1"
When Argentina is #1 in 2004 Americans says "no look at ranking we are #1"
When Spain is #1 in 2006 Americans says "no look at ranking we are #1'
So since Americans sets this rule that winner of each tournament is not #1 but only top rank team by FIBA is #1 then Americans have set rule and Argentina is #1.
All Argentina fans must not let Americans and media lie about this.

What American said we're number 1? First of all, most of us could care less what some arbitrary ranking says. We already know that with our best players, nobody can touch the US and no, we didn't bring the all of our best players. We don't need a ranking to justify how good we really are. We already know.

Look, at this point having our team at the first spot is absolutely amazing... but it is also true that USA got the gold after defeating us in order to get to the finals, and the americans are as proud as they should about it because they have an AWESOME team.All Argentina fans must not let Americans and media lie about this.
I am not really interested on what anybody else can object about FIBA rankings and who is really the best, maybe they are right or maybe not... but after all we are a small, 3rd world country with less than half the budget and structure other teams have to prepare themselves for compe ions...BUT the heart,soul, effort and team work is what got us to the top spots and that is what makes me happy and proud, players with no fear and that can represent this country...the rest is just numbers.

It sums up longer period of time than last few months.
I never look at ranking like it's the only oracle
To be honest I have no problem with Argentina being ranked #1. They have been the most consistent team in international play.
You don't need lists or rankings to tell you the truth.
Look at the games. USA team won by an average of 20-30 points or something like that. In American language, that is called an "ass-kicking".
Spain is the only country close to USA and they still lost by many points.
Also, this is played by FIBA rules which Americans are not used to. FIBA players have an advantage in the Olympics. If played by NBA rules, Spain/Greece/Argentina would lose by 50 points.
But don't worry, I hear FIBA is changing rules more to American style (farther 3 point, no camping in the lane) .... then let the 50 point USA beatings begin!
Prior US was 1, but they lost to Greece in 2006, so apparently it bumped them down to 2.

Greece is rank #4 and we are not worry about these dumb comment. Spain now will lose Pao Gasol from team. Should be last major tournament for older players of Argentina also.
Only player we have now we might lose is Papaloukas and we have better players than him at this time ready to take over for him.
We are #2 by default in papers for World Champions in 2010 and #1 for Euro Champions next year.
