    Completely deny.

We don't gather any demographic information here. And we don't release the IP address information so that anyone would know who lives where. Also the site gets over 3 million page views a month ... it reaches far more than nine thousand people.
    IT'S OVER 9000!!!!

    Offered over $100K in 2005.

What is your number? Everyone has a price.
I'm sure you'd negotiate to maintain admin rights, no? Not sure how that works. I don't mind a few ads here and there to get a little kick back for you guys and everyone else who manages/contributes to the sight. (other than just posters, or course)

Its the Best forum on the planet. But if some company comes in here and tries throw a bunch of rules around & ruin it, not worth it.

We get offers quite regularly. We have been offered everything from us still running it and get money from all the ads they want to put up, to someone flat out buying it and doing with it what they will. Most potential buyers want us to sign a three-year non-compete for the sale ... meaning that I (or timvp or anyone on our behalf) would agree not to run a forum, website, whatever related to the Spurs or basketball for three years. Sure, there's ways around that, but it's still a sticky point.

We (with the help of everyone here, obviously) grew SpursTalk up from nothing. So for me it's a sentimental/principal thing more than anything. I don't want to sell it and watch someone else run it into the ground. That might sound lame to a lot of people, and I'm definitely not against making money. But ST isn't for money for me, it's just a fun outlet that I created for myself and for the community. The beginnings were rough here. I posted over 100 times a day (literally) to get the discussion going. When you pour your heart into something, it's hard to sell out.

When we install the arcade and add other extra things to the site, I will probably put some small ads in limited areas of the site (not in the Spurs forum) to get some money back. We will never come close to breaking even, unless I flood it with ads and I refuse do that. In a few years when the Spurs inevitably have some down years, you guys will probably all bail then I will wish I would have sold out

Why can't Kori sell the site take the money and let someone make another site where we can all meet and start over?

Back in the day when the original 90210 was still around, the people that started Television Without Pity used to post on the 90210 board and we were all a close group like it is here. TWOP became huge and Bravo bought them out, but they still were in charge. A year later, none of the founders are associated with the site. I don't know if it was a mutual decision, they were ousted, or they quit -- but while I'm sure they got a pretty penny in the buyout, I can imagine it stings to no longer be part of something they created.

On other websites, people have asked for small donations just for the costs of keeping things up and running. Have you guys ever thought about doing something similar to avoid any shortfalls? On newbergreport.com & m1live.com, both just rely on visitor donations every once in a while. Not so much as to cause a hardship to anyone but to keep things the way they are. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one in here willing to help out if that ever came up.

Similar story... In the late 1990s there was the place I used to chat Webchat Broadcasting Systems (WBS), where I met some of my nearest and dearest friends to this day. Through eventual buy-outs Disney bought them and they shut down WBS. It was one of the saddest things in the world. I think the day I got the e-mail about it I was PMSing and almost had a breakdown.

I mean it would be different now with everyone here, there are so many different ways people communicate, not to mention most people live in San Antonio have each others myspaces, facebooks, even phone numbers, but still. The thought of selling websites make me so sad!

I bet Kori could sell the Spurs-NBA forums for a pretty penny and do a political forum thing for a few years till her no compete clause ran out.....I would, but I'm plenty busy already..

I havent come to Spurtalk for basketball talk since June 2006. Spurs or Pistons being up or down means little to me. I think its reasonable to assume Im not the only one.
