Whether he will help or not remains to be seen, but the assertion that we NEED him is little short of ridiculous. I'm not sure what Spurs you have been watching for the last 50 games.
For my part, I just hope that the unnamed source is as delusional as conversekid.
I can confirm I heard it on WOAI as well. I've heard that ESPN radio is broadcasting the news also.
If Karl does end up with the Spurs, one positive - whether you like Karl or not - he is off the market. This time he is not a wrench thrown in the spokes of the Spurs' wheel by some other playoff team. He was indeed that for the Lakers last season, defensively.
Does this mean we'll be shipping out Malik for uncle Cliffy now? Hmmmm.....

I don't know what else to call it. It's so damn obvious. This team has made it this far without him, maybe a few more games won't hurt. They already have guys who can be physical up front. They have guys who can hit jumpers. Is Malone healthy? Nah, that. Why couldn't he have joined the team back in October?
I don't have a problem with a 57 year old Karl Malone joining this team for a shot at a ring as a role player just as I didn't have a problem with former Spur Killas Mario Elie, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, and Robert Horry doing so. But at least those gentlemen joined the damn team before the season started.
If Karl dons a Spur uni, I have three questions:
1) What number will he get?
2) Will the uni spontaneously combust?
3) Will a picture of him in a Spurs uni cause blindness for sensitive viewers?
Malone and Cliffy would give the Spurs awesome defensive flexibility. Pop would be in heaven.

Yeah, Uncle Cliffy could block out the opposing team's water boy during road games.
I placed a $200 Vbookie bet last week that he would sign before the A.S.G.
Malone will play maybe (MAYBE) 6 minutes a game and will be used to disrupt while on defense. He'll foul out in the majority of games he'll play in.
The banged up Tim Spurs team. The one that falls apart when teams get physical with them. The one that had jerome james and fortson making tim look like yao ming. Forget our record; the reg season means nothing.
Malone adds the toughness inside we will need to bang with seattle and miami when it's all on the line. Lose the hate. It's about the team, not about who you like and don't like.
