Right now there are only two contenders and they are both in the East.

The Cavs and Celtics are WAY ahead of everyone else in the league.

The Lakers quite frankly are pretenders right now. Their 17-3 record is a mirage. They will likely win 60+ games this year with their offense alone, but they have nowhere near the defense needed to win a championship.

It's incredible to me how Phil Jackson just refuses to committ this team to defense. The 40 pt anal rapage from the Celtics didn't send a message apparently.

I'll say this right now with the talent the Lakers have there is simply no reason for them to be this poor defensively.

What's killing us is not Odom right now(although he sure ain't helping us) but our piss poor guard play.
EVERY small scrub guards out there are getting huge numbers against us because fisher keeps insisting on bodying them up 40 feet from the basket instead of givng them space.

Udrih made Fish into a by constantly going around him (I counted at least 12 instances) and either driving all the way to the basket for layups or passing out to an open man when Gasol or Bynum left their man to cover for his ass.

right now what's happeningh is Fisher is killing us on Defense and Farmar is killing us on offense.
