For what it's worth, 29 "leaders" don't lead their team to .
I don't give a about 29 other teams, I give a about the Mavericks. Either they have a guy that can lead them there or they keep searching.

Paul Pierce isn't a leader but he was the best player on a championship team.
If you don't think Paul Pierce was the guy leading the Celtics, you're crazy. Who was their leader? KG? Just because he yells and screams and pounds his chest doesn't mean anybody else is inspired by his bull . Paul Pierce endured some rough years but he was leading that team in spite of Antoine Walker years before.

KG isn't a crunchtime scorer, Pierce is. KG was a drill sergeant in Boston, he was the guy making guys stay late after practice, he was the guy who made sure the starters stood on their feet and cheered for the scrubs in blowouts. KG is definitely a and full of fake toughness, but he absolutely deserves credit for making those guys match his work ethic. Without that, the Celtics would've never won a le. Over 82 games and the playoffs, that kind of stuff makes a difference in chemistry. Pierce can't and won't do that. They covered each others' weaknesses and complemented their strengths. That's why I think they deserve co-credit for the Celtics winning it last year.

You can tell the Mavs have picked up a sense of urgency, but why the did they wait until they fell behind by 29 to get it?

Mono, you can search for a decade or two and not find the right "leader"... just the dynamics of nBA basketball

dammit Dirk missed his FT. 2 missed today.

Problem is, they'll expend a lot of energy cutting into the lead. Basketball is a series of runs.

Dirk's 3 missed FT's tonight and missed 3 that could've gotten it to 6 is kinda vexing. So is Al Jefferson's make with less than 2 on the shot clock.

Cmon Mavs... get this to 5-7 by the 4th and we'll go from there.

It's about time for Al Jefferson to start teabagging the Mavs. We've seen this all before.

He got their last 4 points. That's what happens when you have a guy who can score in the low post.

Antoine Wright with the play of the game so far. If McCants gets that one, that would have been freakin deflating.
