Ok, so Tolliver wasn't shooting well and he was probably not the best defender, but he's just a kid (23 yrs). Most probably forget that he is a ROOKIE. He was on a contract worth peanuts and probably would have developed into a better shooting big man.

So why did the spurs loose their faith in this guy?

I don't see why there was any need to can him. If anyone, Vaughn should have gone, possibly Udoka.
I liked Tolliver, and thought he sould stay. What the did we achieve by waiving him?

I personally think that the spurs are at a loss with this move.
if you pay his salary, call the spurs front office and maybe they will call tolliver back. money is money, esp. with these economic situation right now. go spurs go!

I believe that roster spot opened from Tolliver being waived is to make room for Horry to come back after the All-Star break!!

They wanted him to have a spot in the rotation and gave him a ton of chances. He just didn't step up. Therefore he was not worth a guaranteed contract and they had to waive him. They could bring him back on a couple of 10 days if no one else signs him. But, anyone who does sign him would have to guarantee the rest of the season.

So they are left with Malik Hairston and Ian Mahinmi on the inactive list, and one open roster spot they can fill with 10 day contracts, or maybe sign someone. And the twelve active players are:

    bigs Oberto/Thomas/Bonner/Duncan (Mahinmi injured)

SFs Finley/Udoka/Bowen (Hairston assigned to Toros)

    smalls Ginobili/Parker/Hill/Mason/Vaughn

Not a bad group at all.

Jesus! With the typical physique of us folks here in San Antonio, that would just be cruel. Against the lakeshow? Do it! What was the game that you took your sig from?

Speaking of Malik, I'd like Pop to play him finally. I know hindsight is 20/20, but if he'd been active last game he would've had some serious minutes(if you think 12 is serious). It's all good, him and Gist are getting nice minutes for next year, when the Spurs finally repeat!!!

I'm not ready to call Hairston by his first name until he earns it.

Ha, I was about to defend him until I realized where you were coming from. Ten years from now, if someone joins the team named Manu, Tony, or Tim(or Ian), I'll use a last name basis too.
