Yeah..if that was the case then the Mavs should have kept Barea on him.
I know Kidd was guarding him most of the time though.
I disagree.
I've watched a few Celts games and that high iso is a set play for Pierce and he has made those shots quite regularly.
Yeah..if that was the case then the Mavs should have kept Barea on him.
I know Kidd was guarding him most of the time though.
ive seen him miss those shots quite often too. some nights they fall, other nights they dont. more often than not, you should expect those to not be very high percentage shots.
We need one of "those guys" that Boston has , LA has, Cleveland has, basically all of the elite teams.
Boston was just shooting FT's in hte 4th, we weren't because we dont HAVE anyone who can have FT parades like that. Dirk at times, but Im referring to a wing player.
Is such a player out there for our beloved Mavs? Would we pull the trigger anyway?
Again, part of the reason the offense was so disjointed was the JET was out. He has been our best 4th quarter player all year. Him and Dirk share "closing duties".
But, yeah... could use a guy that gets FT parades..
Vince Carter could be that player, Ghazi!
Or Corey Maggette?
V C and Mags dont come off as "winners" to me, although neither does J-Ho. but swapping J-Ho for one or the other is lateral, plus they have horrible contracts.
Yeah..you're probably right!
But..both of them can get to the FT line though.
Especially Maggette!
Baron Davis wouldn't have helped us tonight![]()
Would've been less shots for Dirk and 5-20 shooting
I kid, I kid.
I KID!
I just hope we doooo somethiiing.
did i just read defensive specialist = george?
wait.....
WTF
Less everything for Rondo as well, Baron Davis would curbstomp him like he was Devin Harris.
so I guess the C's attempted 20 4th Q FT's tonight.
Last sesaon they attempted like 18 4th Q Ft's in our building.
That's 38 in 2 quarters, which nets for 76 a game.
IM PULLIN OUT THE REF EXCUSE!
Just kidding, but yeah... we need a wing who can get to da line.
josh howard wasted too many shots, jason played so long that he also shooted bad.
I don't understand why we keep throwing George in there. I swear to God, Green is a better player right now. Hustles, makes plays on offense and defense, and commits his fair share of mistakes. But George gives you absolutely nothing.
I mentioned this earlier, btu is anyone else annoyed that the announcers tried to credit KG's technical for the team coming back?
What the did KG do in the 2nd half? He had a few nice dunks on collapsed defense, but that's about it.
Celtics look great even without KG. They can eat up leads or expand leads while he's sitting, and are 11-2 since the big 3 trades in games he's missed.
Actually the Celts did close most of the gap WITHOUT KG.
But it's all about storylines in this league. Right now, KG's intensity and leadership are the "IT" story along with "Kobe v. Lebron", though you rarely heard that when he was surrounded by trash in Minny. Allen has had a much better season than Pierce, yet Pierce was the first choice for All Star anyway.
It's stupid, and it's not informative. But when most of the people that are watching the games are not NBA junkies like us, who sit around well into the night chatting in NBA forums, that is what you get.
Yeah, what Reggie was saying was ridiculous. I actually seen KG's bull as a weak point in the Celtics armour, and watching from the Spurs perspective, something that they could take advantage of in future matchups. Even as a winner, he can still be taken out of the game by more poised players and fall back into some selfish moments. Also, Dirk absolutely abused him any time he was matched up on him. Powe did a far better job, despite the fouls.
In regard to the OP, George was horrible. Pierce is fantastic fading away after a couple of dribbles. George didn't force him to do anything he didn't want to. Send him towards help, force him to spin and to keep him from the middle of the floor so some help can come, or make him dribble more before getting into his move. Pierce can be sloppy with the ball and to let him shoot a fadeaway isn't really forcing him to do anything he isn't comfortable with.
If we have Baron Davis then Rondo doesn't go off, and we could have probably put him on Pierce for small stretches like in the 4th when he went off. Baron is too strong to get punked and let Pierce get any spot on the court he wants. Jason Kidd was a liability tonight on both ends of the floor and I don't give a about what the apologists say. When a defensive minded point guard, who is considered to be the weak link of his team's starting lineup, goes off for 19 and 14 assists then it's time to re-evaluate the situation and make a trade. And most of those 14 assists didn't come from his passing ability, they were because he was able to get into the paint and make the defense collapse.
Cuban loves Kidd, he isn't going to trade him this season. Kidd is the second best player in the league mother ers!
And Breath is still on this team b/c he single-handedly led the Lakers to their les. You es don't realize how important that championship pedigree is.
Cuban and Donnie will take this loss as a positive. The Mavs won this game, they were short-handed and took the Champs down to the wire. WE LOVE OUR TEAM.
They were switching that pick n roll way too much...just go under the screen with Rondo, no sense in switching to create a bigger mistmatch with JJB or Kidd. If Rondo beats with jumpers then so be it but JJB/Kidd has no length on Pierce and he would just rise up over them
Oh ya and J-ho and Kidd going for steals on those passes to PP were ridiculous, it got them out of position and led to 2 fouls, one of which was a And1
Great post I agree but Dirk should of done like Odom stand up to KG than laugh it off Dirk looked nervous even though he abused KG a few times after Dirk wasnt the same part of it was tired legs but part of it was mental Dirk has to take a stand vs the wests and KG's or he will ALWAYS get punked
I think that gets overblown man. Tim Thomas tried to punk him, he dropped 50 on his ass. West tried to punk him, and Dirk played splendind all series long, same last night. Just because he isn't a thug, doesn't mean Dirk doesn't compete. He plays on bad ankles and kness, doesn't say a thing when he is sick, and still delieveries as consistently as one can imagine. But no, Dirk will never fight on a court, and that's that. If you want star players to throw punches go watch hockey.
without DG the Mavs have no shot against the Lakers.....bc according to Donnie DG knows Kobe's moves and could slow him down![]()
I feel your pain mavs fans. We had to suffer with that piece of for years.
Yeahhh 3 les is really "suffering". get the son.
