You're right. A long run in the UEFA cup + a short bench + old key players (don't believe what they say, Make is deep in his 40' already) means 4 or 5th at best.
I agree with you 100%... But it is still impressive.
Edit:
For the record it is 10W/8L (10/9 if you include the loss against Miami)
Not that bad considering:
- The 3 initial loss that could be explained by the integration of new players and some players starting the season a bit rusty.
- A loss against Cleveland without Duncan.
- Losses @Portland, @Dallas, against LA.

I agree
+ It's all mental...
I mean even if he is in a good shape, he has to feel mentaly "comfortable", he used to have a "mental black" against teams or opponents (marbury, devin harris, the Lakers...), and the has nothing to do with talent or energy...
That's also why it's positive for him to take more reponsabilities, so that he can push his limits a beat his "nemesis" instead of always letting Manu the responsability to close the games...
He was born in France so I don't thinkso + he is smart, and when you are you don't run for nothing you always find the spot to be...
+ he is not a "bodybulding" type of player, he is more a running man (lots of andurance)
About PSG, I think the coach should use ALL the young players in UEFA cup (even if we loose, its a good experience for them + it allow to rest the old guys...)
I still believe we can catch the champions league spot (at least the 3rd)
only giuly and clement had a good game yesterday, the others are tired (except landreau who is only playing well 10 games/seasons)
Ahem !
I am (more lurking than writing) on this board since the days Tony was drafted... the start (well in fact the continuity) of a nice era for the Spurs, and for THE OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS...
( well ok, guys... we have been horrible these past weeks...)
Xap'
Please, don't try to start a fight with me...
TFC fan here
... Decades !!
kidding...
Seriously, great team but not really great club (thks to Aulas?)
I mean nobody cares about lyon, even if you win 15 in a row...![]()
You mean EXHAUSTED!!
They kept running/fighting only thanks to adrenaline and for the "Parc".
And look at next week schedule!!! Scary...
but i'm still optimist for the le, lyon doesn't dominate their games so they suck at gerland, and even though marseille deserve to win yesterday, they don't impress me. For me bordeaux is the real threat ( but they are kinda weak mentally) so we'll see.
and i can see toulouse finishing 3rd
Unfortunately, I see Lyon champ again, they have nothing else to play...But the Ligue 1 is so "irrationelle" that EVERYTHING is possible.
My predictions:
1- Lyon ( )
2- PSG (Hope)
3- Lille (I'm serious!)
4- Marseille (if they go far in UEFA, if not 3rd)
it's futbol you morons...... or fulbo... ask some argentinians.
I'm pretty sure Phil Jackson es Tony's Gatorade or something before every Lakers game, because he has always been off going up against them.
Teams that know how to pack the lane have historically given him trouble. The Lakers and Mavericks always seemed to have his number, as did teams like the Nets and Pistons back in their day.
Parker's midrange jumpshot has definitely helped him to deal with this tactic, but you'll now find games like the one against L.A. where he starts becoming reliant upon it, and that stalls out the rest of the offense unless he's just on fire.
They all say the same thing every time; Duncan is the rock, Parker is the engine, Manu is the heart of the team. Everyone contributes and without one or two they aren't the Spurs.
makelele might be smart but he was born in Kinshasa not in france.
Officially in 1973 but it probably is around the mid 60'. He probably had to lie to sign for the youth Nantes team
On topic: I always thought this year might be lost b/c we were not healthy from the start. Duncan has been overworked since carrying the load early in the season. Parker has had to carry it lately and where is Manu? I hope we get some regenerative powers before PO time.
I think (one of) the solutions, might be for him to just focus on playmaking at the beginning of the game, getting all his teamates involved, so that they start focusing on somebody else, then progressively taking all the opportunities that are given to him...
Most of the time, as he is their main focus (as from the Celtics by the way), they prevent him to go to the rim and he starts losing his confidence...
I think that's maybe his biggest next step (with the 3pts), knowing when he has to be patient, attack...
He has already shown a great improvement in that area, but it's a work in progress...
...
I just remembered he is only 26 !!!!
WAOW
You're right
Anyway I'm still amazed by his physical abilities...
It's like Mutombo! some people say he is near to 50 years old!!!![]()
i'm not afraid about manu being healthy at this point... i just hope he'll find his rythm on time cause last time he came back from his injury earlier this season, it took him many many games to find his confidence back
Tony will be fine. Remember this isn't the 2008 team with the old geezer back court reserves, and Vaughn playing lots of minutes at the point.
Being 26 myself, we don't get tired. Just need to recharge the battery every so often.
A few days off and TP will be ready to go. Although in the first few rounds he should look to distribute, just to see how our new players fare.
He's at the point where he knows how to pick and choose his spots.
I still gotta think the Lakers know how to shut him down though, since 2004. 4 straight losses after they clogged the lane and started knocking him down.
Tp's vastly improved but the Lakers did too. Not much daylight in the paint for TP to do his thing. I hope his jumper is on when the Spurs face them.
I even think him not playing right now might be our biggest advantage coming the PO!!
He just has to be healthy for the last 10 games to find his rythm (if we lock the 2nd, ther will be no pressure on winning the last games and he'll feel free to do what he wants on the court...)
The same way all the injuries Utah had are "paying" now...
I hope too cause i can't see the spurs passing the lakers if TP's JS is off
SO this team is no going to be NBA champion anymore.
When TD can't be the leader of the team then our chance to reach the finals and win the NBA will be 0.That's the difference between TD and TP.
+ 1
No offense to that poster, but what he said was frikin' re ed.
