hmm thanx.
by now i never considered playing without the ankle brace, but come to think of it i did had some problem - pain in my knees, caused by rotating to quickly.
Now i have to consider: is it worse to have a twisted ankle or acl injury?
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury
Very common injury in many sports... I broke my left leg ACL and lost 75% of my meniscus in a ski accident more than 10 years ago.
hmm thanx.

how long did rehabilitation take for you?

Get TD some of these for the playoffs, I guarantee that the problem would be solved.
snowboarding boots?
I was wondering what the was going on why dont these guys use the
tape? I have sprained my anke 2 times each ankle and I use tape everytime after that and it helps tremendously. And besides cant the trainers do that professionally?
Somebody actually asked Pop on his radio show about either changing the shoes or getting some special made ones.
His answer was that virtually all the players in the league use the same type of shoes--making allowances of course for their shoe contracts. However, he said he hadn't considered the idea before and would refer it to the Spur trainer to see if the idea had merit.
Well it depends on the degree of the injury, but most of the time, an ACL injury is much worse than a twisted ankle. I have had both, and I've recovered (walking and doing normal activities) from 2nd degree twisted ankles in 2-3 weeks, and fully recover in 3 months.
With ACL injuries, most of the time you need surgery and the recovering time is much longer.
I strained the ACL on my right knee once. Not fun, not fun at all.
It took me 3 months after surgery to start walking again, 4-5 months to start biking, and 6 months to start running. I went back to a baskeball court after 9 months, and to the slopes after 2 years (I skipped one season).
Kori, I`m pretty sure Duncan will heed your advice upon his return. I`m looking for lots of tape and some inital tentativeness. Then come the second round he`ll be back in full swing. Hopefully there will be a good option for him to better protect his ankles.
African Fan, you make an interesting point to me because, as a runner who occasionlly trains on trails and participates in triathlons, I value stability in a shoe. Speaking as a runner I can say that some shoes do offer better protection against turns etc. However, like someone here said, the force of impact and angle that Duncan came down on probably would`ve overruled any protective implants in his shoes. He really came down hard and angled.
ski boots have progressed very well to protect the ankles, such that but in accidents, many of previous ankle injuries have migrated to the knees, the "next weak" link" in the leg's "chain".
I suffered a 3rd degree ankle sprain when i was a freshman in high school playing softball...and the idiot that i was i thought it was just a really really bad sprain. I was off of it for a week and even though i still had severe swelling and bruising in the ankle i practiced keeping it away from my parents and coaches. Stupidest mistake i could ever make. I messed up my ankle so bad to an extent where i couldnt sleep at night. When i went to the doctor he was shocked at what he saw.
It took me nearly 2 years to recover from my injury. I kept reinjuring the ankle because it was so weak. I did months of physical theraphy wasnt the greatest of things. I remember just walking on campus if i stepped on an uneven surface my ankle would give out.
Reminder if you are injured DO NOT try to play on it!
As a health care professional, I know there are ankle braces that are flexible enough for players to wear. Correct me, if I am wrong, didn't Jordan have his ankle wrapped and continued to play? Duncan has been plagued with weak ankles before he came here. I don't know what a hyperberic chamber is going to do but keep the ankle looking young. Right now, it seems that the SPURS only know one guy to go, and that is #21. It is time for the rest of the high-price athletes to show why Malik was traded. Players are scared to shoot, much less rebound. It seems that our SPURS are stuck in a time warp. First, they lost Mr. San Antonio (Malik), and now Mr. SPUR (Tim). There is no one else to lead them, much less motivate them. Please find those ankle braces or wraps for Tim.
