KG rarely has the ankle problems.
I don't know about Tmac.
I think your searching. If these guys have a problem with the shoe there probably the first to notice it. If they mention it i'm sure Adidas would restructure the shoe around them.
Shoes. I think that Tim Duncan uses Adidas shoes and from what I know, and coz I own that one used by Narz Mohamed, I can say that Tim Duncan Should change his. Adidas clogs are very hard and if you twist your ankle a beat it has a resistance to hold it back but if you just pass a certain limit of resistence, it will work against your ankle forcing it more and more outside and that's what happened to Duncan this and the last time.
Maybe there is a Nike shoe for hi outhere ...
Just a thought, what you think?![]()

^^^^^ agreed.
If Tim Duncan wants the shoe changed then Duncan gets the Shoe Changed. It has more to do with Bad Luck(coming down on Rasheeds foot) and having played so consitantly without a break over the past few years. Tim had ankle problems when he was with Nike.
No matter what shoe you're wearing, if you come down on a foot like Tim did, you're going to damage your ankle.
He stepped on Wallace foot did you see the game
As posted in a different thread.... this CAN be prevented!
Timmy doesn't get hurt if he had my coach.... Ok now, I'm 41 years old and have "twisted" my ankles more time than I can remember... but I never was hurt.
How? My coach had us basically roll our ankles every day in practice... He had us stand on the outside of ankles when ever we were just standing around during the day.. This "stretched" the outer ligaments.... It is a practice I still use to this day... If
you have young kids, I'd say you might want to consider having them start...
Ok, this may be a dumb statement but it seems to me that the practice of "stretching" your ligaments would cause you to roll your ankle frequently. Don't the ligaments need to be elastic and taught to support the joint? If they are stretched, there would be no stability and would lead to a much more serious injury.
I have no idea but maybe someone with medical knowledge could speak to this.
I was thinking about the same thing- Re: the shoes. If I'm the Spurs and Duncan, I'm calling Adidas and saying three ankle injuries are quite enough for one year, threatening lawsuits the entire time. Adidas will have to seriosly address the engineering of Duncan's shoes. I know I won't buy or recommend those shoes to anyone (sorry Tim, no disrespect. I'll still happily buy other stuff of yours).![]()
I think it has more to do with Duncan not taping his ankle than with his shoes.
Man I'm a pistons but seeing duncan get hurt like that was heart breaking! I mean piston fans really respect you guys becasue your team reminds us of ours! I mean even with duncan out you guys still hung around till the end! The only other team that I would like to see win the championship you guys!
p.s please tell some of your fans to stop coming on our board and talking trash because we really respect you guys!
I'm flat footed and my feet tend to 'planate' - that's how a friend described it to me. That is, they tend to roll whenever they don't land flat. A few years ago, I had two very bad sprains within about six month's time that set me on my butt for weeks. Once I switched shoes - at this guy's suggestion - I never had the problem again. When I'd land on someone's foot, the shoe had enough sole and ankle strength that my ankles' natural tendency to bend took over and I survived the landing.
Seriously, the shoes have a big impact on the behavior of your foot. Don't overlook this. Not that Tim isn't getting top grade advice, but those who poo-poo the impact of shoes, you're not getting it right.
Oh, and gophergeorge. Your signature is highly offensive and has no place on this board. I don't want to think of you as a bigot and an asshole.
I brought this up in another thread, and I've had a lot of problems with ankles regarding Adidas.
The best shoes I had for ankle support were the firt generation Paytons with the ziper. I did all kinds of to my feet in those shoes, and never once rolled it bad. Not even while landing on several feet.
What!?
Tim is not taping his ankles?![]()
maybe now he realizes the importance of doing that.
I believe your right. My brother plays high school soccer and football. He injured his ankle in nearly the same manner Duncan did. During a soccer game, he went up to head the ball and landed on someones foot. Ended up w/ a grade 2 sprain. The doctor he saw and the trainer he saw after that both told him that he should NOT stretch his ankle that way, cuz it could cause it to be more suseptable (sp?) to being sprained.
If you see that they are fans with the same user names as they have on this board, tell me who they are. There's no reason to trash your board.p.s please tell some of your fans to stop coming on our board and talking trash because we really respect you guys!
Not to argue with a doctor.... but I've landed very hard on my ankles, to the point where the ankle bone itself is on the ground, and I popped right up... All I'm saying is I never "sprained" my ankle.... Now my wrist on the other hand...![]()
Man, I can't believe Tim doesnt tape his ankles! I can understand the loss of some mobility but he isnt the fleetest of foot in the first place!! Kori, does he at least wear some ankle brace or support of some sort? I would think that would be obvious equipment upgrade for him and highly recommended to Tim by Will Sevening with this being a reoccurring injury last year and this year. TIMMY, I GOT A ANKLE BRACE YOU CAN HAVE BRAH! Holler at me! lol
i twisted my ankles many times, even broke onetoo, and now i never play without a plastic ancle brace. it really helps (saved my ancle a couple of times) and you practically dont fell it once you get used to it. tim should get one. it cost about 100$
maybe we can chip in and buy him one![]()
An ankle brace for a guy who won't wear kneepads and who apparently doesn't tape his ankles to the max? fat chance.
It's the shoes. Adidas SUCK! It's gotta be the shoes.
Let me clarify. I'm sure Duncan tapes his ankles, but not to the extent that I see other players do it. For example, Nazr tapes his ankles really well... I've seen him cutting off his tape and it's quite a chore. I don't think Duncan tapes as heavily.
He'd better start.
Lemme at em and I'll kick their shins!![]()
Actually wearing an ankle brace your leg becomes susceptible to other injuries. My doctor recommended i use an ankle brace for a short period of time until my ankle was strong enough on its own. Studies and research has been done that once you rely to heavily on an ankle brace you risk an ACL injury. So when i played sports my doctor would rather have me tape my ankles than use an ankle brace.
what is an ACL injury?
