You can't say that stuff about a 4 peat being guaranteed. If they had won that Super Bowl in 95 and 3 peated then who's to say they have the motivation left to win it in 96? Part of that 96 run was due to the embarrassment of blowing it to the 49ers in 95
    Almost guaranteed. Learn to read.

And they had Barry freakin Switzer coaching them and they still won the Super Bowl. The roster that Jimmy Johnson assembled was so dominant that one of the more incompetent pro football coaches of all time still led them to a le.

a lifelong Cowboys fan would know that Tom Landry needed to retire. Be mad at how Jerry went about firing him, but it's not like he sacrificed multiple future Super Bowl appearances or possibly the greatest dynasty in football history, the way he did when Jimmy hurt his feelings.

Those Cowboys were good enough to win a Super Bowl with Barry Switzer coaching Jimmy's team. If Jimmy stuck around, 5-6 Super Bowls was not out of the realm of possibility. A four-peat was almost guaranteed, as Jimmy would never have let his team lose to San Francisco in 95.
Whoa, there. Troy Aikman cures a lot of ills for a team that went from the best in the league before Danny White's injury to terrible once he was unable to come back. I'm not sure how many coaches would have been able to win with guys like Steve Pelluer and Gary Hogeboom under center. That they did as well as they did in the 80s with "No Danny No" at the helm is a testament to Landry's greatness.

Jimmy Johnson didn't even like Troy Aikman, nor did he like Emmitt. The Herschel Walker trade was possibly the greatest coup in the history of the game, and it only happened once. I'd put 20 winning seasons in a row up against that and be happy with the choice.

I'm not sure how Jimmy would have had any control over three flukey turnovers in five minutes, or over the officials not calling Deion for PI. If you think that's somehow Switzer's fault, then your man-love for Jimmy Johnson is so irrational that pointing out his record with the Dolphins wouldn't be enough to change your mind.

I'm not saying that what happened to Landry was all that horrible, but it's no less horrible than what happened to Jimmy. Jerry said that he could win a Super Bowl with Barry Switzer, and he was right. He was stupid to think that he could just pick a great NFL coach out of thin air, and shouldn't have let his ego get the better of him.

Wow..not sure if you're from Dallas, but that's pretty ignorant if you're from Dallas and you want the Cowboys to suck. It helps your economy when they win. Now...if you don't care how they do because you're not a fan, that's fine...but to HOPE that they do horrible is not too intelligent. Now..if you're not from Dallas, strike my remarks.

I want them to fail just this year, to prove that their problems went a lot deeper than TO. TO was the scapegoat, and they apparently feel that simply getting rid of him is what will get them over the hump. How wrong they are, as they had issues in their secondary, issues with turning the ball over, and piss-poor coaching, to name a few.

Cardinals because it just doesnt feel right when they are relevant in the NFL

Patriots because they will choke eventually and it will save their fans from suicide if they stumble right out of the gate

Giants because they talk way to much

    Raiders because they're the Raiders

Dumbass, nobody with half a brain said TO was the only problem, only a problem. The Cowboys also got rid of Johnson for a capable backup, got rid of safety Roy and brought in Sensabaugh, replaced Canty with Olshansky, and replaced the worst coach on the team with a real special teams coach to remedy the worst special teams in football.

Yeah, they really thought TO was the only problem. Dumbass

A lot of fans did but no evidence from the team that they thought TO was the only problem. If they do think that, which none of us knows, then yes, they are wayyyy off.

I've read on TrueBlue and the dallascowboys.com website, and a lot of fans really think that TO is the blame for all of the Cowboys problems. A lot of people have made TO out to look like the scapegoat. He was "causing" problems in the locker room so he was cut. I think the team suggested this by cutting him. I would have liked to see the TO/Roy Williams combination with a whole year under their belt. If it didn't work out, cut him then. That's my opinion. Now guys like Mickie Spagnola and the other writers are saying that the offense is going to be a whole lot better and more productive because TO isn't there any more. Romo won't have to worry about throwing him the ball, and can look to other receivers. I think the perception is out there that TO is to blame for a lot of their problems. It's mostly fan/media induced though.

I think you conveyed my point a little better. I'm sick of all the morons and haters blaming TO for all the problems. So thats a big reason why I want them to fail. Not to mention, the fact that they shouldn't have cut him in the first place. Quite a few teammates were not very happy about that move at all. It's even more ridiculous about how when Romo had a ty game against the Giants, and everyone was bashing on him and hating on him, TO stuck up for the guy. Then as soon as adversity strikes in regards to TO, Romo threw him under the bus. That was a move by both the team and Romo.

IMO it would have been a good move if they had someone to bring in close to what TO was. They didn't and for the moment they are hanging their hopes on Witten, who is arguably the best at his position and Williams, Crayton, Austin and Hurd, all of whom have shown flashes of brilliance but that is about it. Crayton has been the #2 before but to a strong #1 which he no longer has. The other three have benefitted as well from TO so this is their opportunity to shine. Hopefully they will, if not, its going to be ugly.
