Turkey is a better shooter off the dribble than he is a spot up shooter. Not what we need. We'd be better off offering the MLE to Odom anyways.
I would take either Hedo or Odom but both are getting more than the MLE and both are probably staying put.
I disagree about the need for a spot up shooter as opposed to a player that can score off the dribble. The Spurs badly need more players that can score off the dribble and just play basketball and not just be one dimensional players that stand there and chunk threes.

Hedo would be by far the best perimeter defender on the team outside of Bowen.

    But ain't happenin'.
I would take George over him defensively..but I agree with everybody else, although that isn't saying much..it's pretty much by default..

I would take Hedo back in a heartbeat in that I am a huge fan of his.

But I don't think the Spurs are a good fit for him. He succeeded really well in Orlando's current system and way of play.

2 things: the spurs can't pay what he demands and he really played badly when he was a spur.

I kind of wonder who will sign him for the bucks he wants.

Most of the teams with cap space are young rebuilders who won't drop their future on Hedo. Doesn't seem to fit the remaining playoff team capabple teams Pistons, Atlanta, New Jersey or Portland. Portland could do it but that would mean no Outlaw. I doubt Orlando will help Hedo leave through a sign and trade.

Hedo will end up re-signing with Orlando. Probably for something in the 4yr-$40 mil range.

Hedo got a bad rap from his time with the Spurs, where Pop's "system" turned Hedo into a spot up three point shooter (which he has never been and never will be). Just like every other wing player not named Manu (and not for lack of trying to turn Manu into a spot up shooter as well)

Hedo is a player who needs the ball in his hand, so that he can create off the dribble, and mix his offensive game up. And he is very good defensively.

He is exactly the type of player the Spurs have always needed.

But like others said, it won't happen, due to monetary issues.

I'd take him back but he'd probably want about $10 mil a year....not happening

Plus, I expect him to re-sign with Orlando anyways

What people do not seem to understand is that the season Hedo was on the Spurs, Pop considered him the closest thing to a pure shooter on the team and played him camped out on the three-point line waiting for Tim to pass the ball out to him, like Steve Kerr or Brent Barry, but that was never his strong suit. He would never get the chance on the Spurs to handle the ball the way he does for Orlando.

As to defense, Hedo was always a better defender than Spurs fans gave him credit due to Euro stereotypes, and he was a great rebounder at his position.

His opting out is not so much about wanting more money per season but about more longevity of contract. It's his last chance to sign a long-term deal.

    hedo is a great rebounder
ploto pop played him that way because he was not as good as he is now
pop seeing how he is playing now would play him differently

He's 30 now. No more retreads.

Trouble is in Pop's eyes a retread isn't one till he's 38+ years old. But, I agree, we don't need Hedo. We need younger, more athletic guys who can create off the dribble.
