It's hard to believe anyone would think it's a good idea to release a live bat into a stadium of 20,000 people. Even if it had been planned there's probably no way to prove it.
remember the Alamo dome fire hose student

the spurs are so hot we have to put them out... ie release water cannons on the whole fan base

Think it later was refered to wet tshirt night

spurs have been doing a lot of marketing activities this year. i think it is two fold the economy ad their marketing guy "retired"

please, you don't have to be Columbo to figure it out.

It's Halloween and the Coyote has a Batman costume ready to go, though it might not have been supposed to go off until half-time.

This has 'promotions idiots' written all over it.

The Spurs will probably play cover-up and pretend to the media that it was all a coincidence.
They will deny it just like Ahnold putting out that F-u veto letter. Whatever. Great win by the Spurs tonight!!!

If Manu didn't kill the bat, it would have been flying on the court the entire game.

this will be the last I post on this subject, other than to acknoweledge it could have been a dumb fan who brought it in.

If there was an Easter Sunday game, and a jackrabbit ran out onto the court, and the Coyote a few minutes later popped out in a Bugs Bunny outfit . . .

    What would your reaction be?

"Oh, how funny! Amazing how these rabbits turn up! You know there's tons of rabbits in town, they do infest places every few months. Just like Night of the Lepus! I hope no conspiracy nuts pop up with their wild theories straight out of X-Files!"

oh yeah, it's also Halloween, the day when coyote has multiple costumes on throughout the game

    b) coyote has a net in case stuff like this ever happens; an acme net.

That's his guardian angel. She was looking somewhere else when he swatted the bat.

I heard the bat was still alive and that when they took the bat outside of the arena to let it go that the bat turned into a vampire....

Video: Manu Ginobili catches rogue bat during Halloween game
    By J.E. Skeets

Tonight's Halloween game between the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs was delayed when a bat began flying around the court — that is, until Spurs guard Manu Ginobili whacked the bat out of midair with his hand like a freakin' cat! ("Manu who catch bat with hand accomplish anything." — Mr. Miyagi)

With the bat dazed and confused, Manu calmly picked up the flying mammal, walked it over to an usher and delivered his kill. After a quick squirt of hand sanitizer the game was back on. No bat, no problem.

The NBA: If it's not one thing, it's a flying hawk, you know?

And oh, just in case PETA is reading, my sources tell me the bat was released outside the arena.

UPDATE: The bat is dead. Long live the bat!

The Spurs will be damn lucky if they aren't fined by the NBA for the bat-release stunt.

That's garbage and was delaying the game and putting the players in danger by their reacting and possibly messing up their knees and ankles as they slipped and cowered from a flying rodent.

PLUS any potential flack from PETA over what happened to it. What if Manu broke his hand smashing the bat?

    Bush league.
there's bats all over San Antonio just go to North Star Mall and look in the cracks of the parking garages or downtown.

There have been lots of times that bats and/or birds are in the building. Usually they keep up high under the roof. Coyote has chased some before at other games.

What happened when he hit it? I can't tell, it looks really small when he picks it up
tha bat was trained to play dead when Manu was going to hit it because according to some posters it was just an act

    After the incident.

Pop: What did you think was gonna happen?! This isn't fu**ing evidence! This is a bat! He's my friend and you're not burying him in the garden!

Manu: "He was killed during The Spurs Game, sir."

    Pop: This is Bat.

Manu: "In The Spurs Game, we have no names, sir."

Pop: Now you listen to me! This is a bat, and he has a name, and his name is Bat Paulson.

Manu: "Bat Paulson. He's a bat."

Pop: And he's dead now because of us! Do you understand that?!

Manu: "I understand. In death, a member of The Spurs Game has a name. His name is Bat Paulson."

George Hill: "His name...is Bat Paulson."

Dejuan Blair: "His name is Bat Paulson."

Entire team: "His name is Bat Paulson."

Entire team: "His name is Bat Paulson."

Entire team: "His name is Bat Paulson."

Pop: Come on guys. Please. Stop it.

Entire team: "His name is Bat Paulson."

Pop: Shut up! This is all over with! Get the f*ck out of here!
