Problem is, he throws up a shot at the other end.

When you have Artest, you have a tradeoff. You can have good defense on one end, but on the other end you get a ballhog who chooses to take horrible shots over giving up the ball.

Now the energy he brings in is something else, but his defense hasn't exactly been top notch in Houston. Not to mention, his gambles on defense can sometimes be costly, like his attempts to steal the ball.

One thing to keep in mind though, Artest is no longer in his contract year. You will not find an Artest with better behavior and effort than the one last year.
