a series like the 06 Finals can generate some real frustration.
don't bring that can of worms into this thread.

cue Spur Fan with whiny pussy hurt complaints about the 06 WCSF reffing. "Dirk gets away with everything and Duncan got hacked 50 times a game! "

Yeah well who's going to argue that Sacremento didn't get screwed out of their championship in 2002?

Oh and by the way, from the Van Gundy Archives

Van Gundy Says Yao Is a Target for the Officials
    By LIZ ROBBINS

    Published: May 2, 2005

ALLAS, May 1 - Rockets Coach Jeff Van Gundy said Sunday that officials were calling fouls more readily, and unfairly, on his 7-foot-6 center, Yao Ming.

Van Gundy also suggested that complaints to the league by the Dallas owner, Mark Cuban, had been to blame, something the N.B.A. immediately denied.

"When you review his fouls, you look there and you got to give Mark Cuban credit," Van Gundy said after the Rockets had a meeting at their hotel. "He's been calling and calling about Yao. You got to give the guy credit, he's taken a lot of fines in his time, and he's been on them hard. And he's gotten the benefit."

Van Gundy said that after the Mavericks' victory Saturday in Game 4, which tied the playoff series at two games each, he received an unsolicited call from a friend who is a league official. The official, Van Gundy said, told him that referees "were looking at Yao harder because of Mark's complaints."

Van Gundy declined to identify the official, saying, "I don't want to get my man in trouble."

"I didn't think that really worked in the N.B.A., but in this case it has," he said.

Yao fouled out in Game 1 of the series and had five fouls each in Games 3 and 4.

Stu Jackson, the N.B.A's vice president, rejected Van Gundy's comments in a statement Sunday night. "No such directive was given to the officials regarding Yao Ming or any other player or team in the playoffs," Jackson said.

Van Gundy said: "I think Yao all year has had a target on his back, for whatever reason, whether it's his size, his kindness, whatever, there's many other things it could be, too."

When asked to respond, Cuban wrote in an e-mail message: "What Jeff said is an insult to officials. They don't officiate individual players differently."

He said that the Mavericks sent in a list of 28 possible moving screens from Game 1 and that the league said 9 of them should have been called but were not. "So if anything, he has it completely backwards," Cuban wrote. "We have had no impact on officiating."

I for one hope that the 13 refs that include Bavetta, Javie, and Crawford are throughly investigated and found guilty of fixing games. Then they can finally clean up the game of basketball.

If the screens were illegal, how was the series tainted?

    This sounds like a fail.

The fail is the 2002 game 6 fix for the Lakers against the Kings

League ordered Lakers win. Made up fouls on the Kings to let LAKER win at foul line.

Lakers 40 times to foul line

Good point but we all know there was a lot of damage control on Tim by Stern/FBI? to prevent it from hurting the entire league.

Lesson here is the NBA is fixed and the officiating is horrible and I don't think anyone here will disagree with that because we have all been screwed over at one time or other. Who can forget Crawford Tim Duncan lol. What a joke.
