ok I got it anyway it's quite funny to see the name of Campos in the midle of an all time team discussion even on the bench.

By the way in your opinion what is the all time Mexican team ?

    For France

    Bats
Desailly Blanc Thuram Trésor (I know no laterals...)
    Tigana Giresse Deschamps Platini
Fontaine Zidane (I know... but impossible to not consider Tigana Giresse)
I loved the ´86 midfield of Tigana, Platini and Fernandes!!!
France-Brazil in Mexico 86 was the best game of that WC.
It was also Platini´s birthday, and he missed a penalty kick.
Zico also missed a penalty kick during regulation.
    Good times...

    no love for Batista ?

for the all time team I agree the Cafu / R. Carlos duo is not enough convincing for me. Globally these positions have no real obvious choice, there is a lack of quality at these positions anyway. For me in your team Platini is missing. On the best players list we have a clear 1 and 2 Pele Maradona then we can discuss between Platini Cruyff Beckenbauer Garrincha Distefano

    Argentina-

    Filliol

    Zanetti Ayala Passarella Sorin

    Ardiles Redondo Kempes

    Maradona

    Messi Batistuta

I would maybe put Caniggia instead of Zanetti or Sorin.

Ok for the Bats Thuram Desailly Blanc Lizarazu. My Tresor choice was clearly an homer stuff but Cantona / Papin over Tigana or Giresse or Fontaine ? wtf ? Cantona never played at a high level for France anyway idem for Papin.

well true but imo they were the better player. It's a shame France choked against Israel and Bulgaria because they had a stacked team and were playing impressive.

He played in River and he was great for us too, it's unbelievable the amount of goals he scored playing as a left back.

    Batista? You mean Batistuta?
I love the guy, and had to think that twice. But Sivori/Artime were as good as him or better.

I even thought about including Arsenio Erico in my all time world team.
The man scored something like 300 goals in 400 games back in the day.
I couldn´t include him in my Argie team because he was born in Paraguay.

Anyway, there are so many players I left out: Eusebio, Bobby Charlton, Zidane, Platini, Del Piero, Weah, Van Basten, Gullit, Rikjaard, Zico, Romario, Ronaldo, Jairzinho, Tostao, Rivelino...ugh...a thousand brazilians actually.

sorry I forgot the tu !
What I consider as a great achievement for Batistuta is being able to be a great striker while playing in Italy and we know that as far as Defense is concerned Italian teams are the best in the world.

He is also the all time leading scorer for our national team.
Unfortunately, he never won anything with the NT. A couple of America Cup, and that´s it.
I miss him so much right now. We don´t have a 9 like him.

He was playing in the midfield for us with Heinze behind him as a left back. Good memories, that was the last season psg qualified for the CL (they finished 2nd).

I would have Maxime Bossis instead of Dessailly.

And Deschamps might be the worst Captain to lift a World Cup

Hard to argue with the rest though

Bossis was brilliant but not a ferious defender like Desailly.

What do you mean by worst captain to lift a world cup ? For me he has been the most important piece of France team for at least a decade. What about Dunga for the worst in this kind of player ?

As already stated an all time french team must include IMO tigana and giresse

Dessailly was more athletic; Bossis was much more skinny, but had a better technique

I'm not a big fan of Deschamps; he has an impressive palmares, but Luis Fernandez was better IMHO (you can disagree )

    no problemo !

We need to define better at what ? Fernandez has a better offense but defensively Deschamps was just a beast and on top of that he is the perfect definition of a captain: without him France 98 would be ringless. He was the coach / the boss on the field, he gave the tempo. For me Deschamps = Dunga they lead a limited generation offensively speaking to a world cup. Now France 2000 is another story, this was maybe the most talented FNT ever.

Zidane was awesome in other tournaments. In the 1998 WC he was average until the finale.

Hmm, of all time. Well, I can't do that because I only watched soccer for the last 10 years or more.
So, there will be a lot of "homerism"

    Buffon

    R. Carlos - Thuram - Maldini - Cafu

    Emerson

Nedved - Del Piero - Garrincha

    Batistusta - Trezeguet
