Baffling. Disgusting. Dissapointing. All these things come into mind with that breakdown of the fourth. 3 points in the last nine minutes is inexcusable . Denver thinks they can lock us up now after that joke of a quarter.
Spurm, you're going straight to for posting these lies.
Everyone knows that out of the 17, Duncan missed 10, and Parker missed the other 10.
We'll be fine, still think we take this in 6.
Rasho's return will only help (DEF) us, hopefully Barry contributes in the Pts area & Nazr can continue to improve.
(denial mode on)
Brent Barry didn't do . Not a ing point in 19 minutes. No way that POS should have been in. Glenn Robinson sucks too.
Well they weren't...so I guess you're happy with the result.
Check who missed all the shots in the last 5 minutes of the game...
Close down the lane and the Spurs are in trouble. Parker and Manu aren't going to get any easy fouls in the 4th quarter when driving the lane. Any good zone defense can do it, especially when Bowen wont take a shot when open.
I have hopes for GRobinson because he WILL take a shot. Barry still seems afraid to open up and has no confidence.
I think you guys are overanalyzing. The offense was fine without Glenn Robinson on the floor and with Brent Barry seeing spare minutes for 3 quarters. We were shooting 50+%, even with basically 4 players on offense while Bowen hung back to protect against the break.
What changed in the 4th? The shots didn't go in. I would have definitely liked to see some adjustments at THAT particular time in order to score a few points, but I'm not concerned about our overall approach to the game, and I don't see a need to adjust rotations or minutes.
The guys we had out there pressed and all of them lost confidence in their shots...I think they did force it and by and large once they penetrated they didn't look to find an open teamate who might be more set...
All Denver did was clog the paint, same thing that has beaten us for years and years...even if the guys were open it was crowded...No one played like a PG in the final minutes...Parker, Duncan and Manu all tried to do it by themselves...
Duncan was 0-for-7 in the fourth quarter. Let's just blame him and move on.
BLASPHEMY!
Well, Duncan being 0-7 doesn't tell the whole story.
I hate to compare, but great teams, say, for instance, an MJ-led Bulls team would never have let the 4th quarter happen.
If MJ was 0-7 in the 4th, I guarantee he's going to the line 14 times, because he realizes his shot isn't falling, and he'll become overly agressive.
Duncan did not do this and it's not the first time this has happened to him. Ginobili was somewhat aggressive, but the whole team seemed like it tightened up in the final minutes.
Veteran, battle-tested, Championship teams (like many have described the Spurs) don't let that happen.
The 10 min 4th quarter drought was due to the sufficating Nugget's defense and nothing else
I love watching you Spurs fans fight with each other.Thats good, blame it on the coach. The coach doesn't play he just coaches. What do u want? Should Pop be fired so the Spurs can try to bring in the next George Karl? LOL
There're two problems with this analysis:
1. The shots didn't go in for Denver either. In fact, they still shot worse than the Spurs for the game. Yet they won pretty much going away. Why? Clearly more aggressive from the second quarter on and it paid off at the FT line.
2. How many times over the last five years have "the shots didn't go in" been the Spurs' excuse for losing? I can't do the research to prove this, but I would lay some v$ that among the top 5-6 teams in the league since 1999, the Spurs have the most number of stretches missing > 10 shots in a row, especially in the playoffs and in the 4th quarter.
Big Dog could've taken all 17 of those shots and made 9 of them and we win by 15. However, he was sitting on the bench watching the posers try to make them.
The Pop Way.
