Even the second tier PF's were great back then. You had guys like Kmart,Abdur-Rahim,McDyees,Elton Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, and young Bosh.
But Tim had to face some of the best compe ion at his position in history. Garnett, Dirk, Webber, Wallace, Stoudemire, Gasol, Malone (past prime) - he even played center and went against Shaq and Yao.
Kobe, on the other hand, faced a weak era of SGs.

Yeah man, the early to mid 2000s was the era of the PF...check out this thread I made a few years ago: http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192952
David: Greatest Spur
Tim: Greatest Spurs Player
Tim Duncan no question at all, D Rob was great and huge for the City but Tim is the reason those 5 rings are there or a HUGE part of it. Enjoy because we won't see anyone like him anytime soon.
Pretty damn funny this was even an argument after 03![]()
David Robinson was the reason why I became a spurs fan but Tim is the greatest spur of all time. Tim had great footwork and back to basket game which Dave never had.
That was the golden era of power forwards.
Yeah I agree. The 90's were the golden age of centers. The '00s was the golden age of power forwards. I feel this decade has been the golden age of the PG's which by the way is my least favorite position.
If anything, it's been the golden age of SFs over the last five years or so. Lebron, KD, Carmelo, Kawhi, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward, Paul Pierce, Iguodala, Luol Deng, and maybe Wiggins in the future
