David Robinson agrees with you.
I knew he would not let us lose man, favorite part was when he had that follow up dunk and he just looked at camby and martin like they were kindergarteners.
TIM you rule.
David Robinson agrees with you.
Sorry but The Admiral was better....
admiral was better
but tims more ruthless
Correction.
He has no ruth.
Actually, they interviewed him in the stands tonight, and told him that Tim was edging up on his playoff club scoring record, and he said he hopes Tim gets it. David had more physical gifts, but Tim burns for the game more than David ever did.
david burned in game 6 of the 2003 nba finals
huh?
and i thought it was Ron Mercer. Or TurkeyGlue.
Just Kidding.
I agree! That's why I'm using his number.
..Timmy got his career playoff 2000 pts, right? he only needs 22. he scored 24![]()
David will always be my coolest Spurs hero. He wears that Spurs shirt and represent Spurs spirit in truth. But I agree, Tim is the better player.
Robinson got me into the Spurs, but in the end, Duncan will be the greatest Spur ever.
a-train artis was the best
Tough call, most dominating Spurs game ever were by Robinson but so far on career it is Duncan.
However, put Manu and Parker with Robinson back in late 80s and 90s team could also have won multiple championships.
Right now 1A and 1B. Three years from now will probably be moot arguement. I would love to see a healthy Duncan verify this with another dominant finals over Shaq or Wallace x 2 and hopefully this is the year as ankle improves.
David said in his sideline interview last night that Tim's the best the Spurs have had.
David was being modest, naturally.
Why isn't the Iceman even being mentioned in this conversation?? Just asking.
A lot of you guys are too young to remember David Robinson in his prime. Tim and Daves styles are hard to compare but I am confident that if DRob had the supporting cast that Tim has had around him that he would have several more rings and be remembered quite differently by the NBA watching public. DRob was one of the most athletic and gifted big men to ever play the game...
robinson was the reason i barry for the spurs, the dude is a beasts looked like he can into ironman comps
then when we drafted TD, i liked his game so much i liked him too.
This arguement is a lot like Bird, Cousy and Russell for the Celtics or Kareem, Johnson, West for Lakers
Nice discussion but in the end all legends.
Only Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan have won more league scoring championships than Gervin's four, and he was the first guard ever to win three les in a row. His career scoring average of 26.2 points per game is among the game's best as is his combined NBA/ABA total of 26,595 points.
During his career, Gervin recorded a remarkable streak of scoring double figures in 407 consecutive games. He played in 12 straight All-Star Games, including nine in the NBA, and he averaged at least 21 points in each of those dozen years.
If Tim wins a championship without 5-0, it will be hard to say he is not the best spur of all time. Which is unfair to David and Iceman, but the hardware speaks. I personally will always be a DRob fan, he made a lot of folks Spurs fans for life who weren't before (remember the Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood commercials w/ Larry Brown?).
BTW, the most talented athlete to ever wear silver & black was probably Bo Jackson.
David's prime years were also MJ's prime years. Tim is lucky that he had Drob with him and not MJ against him.
Tim is more clutch, but Drob was the better all around player. He played it on both ends. If you put Drob with this team, the Spurs would go down as the best defensive team in league history and holding teams to under 75 points every night.
Drob never had a supporting cast, best was Sean next to him. And even then, they never had a bench like they do know. I'm just glad we're not wasting Tim's yrs, like they did to David's.
Small sample size. But seems as though longevity and a couple rings quelled the debate (Timmy vs. D-Rob), tbh.
do u remember the 2003 spurs? Tim in his prime, robinson 1 foot in the grave, ginobli and parker not yet what they would become and then in the finals, parker disappearing the last 3 games as usual against good pg opposition. Setphen Jackson was balling though and Sean ****** pre-kidney troubles was better than Jackson.
We all love Tim, but he benefitted from a depleted NBA just as much A Kobe did.
