it was game 3, Joe Smith on David Robinson.

What was great David went right back at the puke.

Garnett tried to get in there to mouth off and Duncan shoved his ass out of it, enfuriating Garnett even more.
Yeah, Flip Saunders never understood physical basketball, and the officials were allowing Smith to do that cheap to Robinson, and he finally lost his temper.

The officials have done a poor job of controlling basketball games this year, and you'd think they'd have learned something from the brawl in Detroit. They called that game last night like they were afraid of the crowd, and the crowd, the players, and the coaches just got more rabid. The blowout loss in Dallas was that way, too. The officials allowed the Mavs to commit dirty fouls while the crowd chanted for more blood.

I know it's a mandatory fine at least, and it might be a suspension as well. I THINK it's on the point system, where you have to add up to a type III foul to get suspended. If he has a type I to go with this (type II), he should be watching from the bench next game. That's assuming that A) I'm correct, and B) the NBA doesn't suspend him anyway

I suspect that the suits will discuss when they get back in the office tomorrow.

I personally think he should, and I usually think of myself as somewhat fair and objective. I watched it over and over again today, and it was unacceptable for him to extend his arms to Manu's neck and throw him down. If the NBA allows that to go on unpunished, they are opening the door for some serious and unneccesary injuries to star players.

Basically sounds like it's up to the commissioner.

    C. FOULS: FLAGRANT/UNSPORTSMANLIKE

To be unsportsmanlike is to act in a manner unbecoming to the image of professional basketball. It consists of acts of deceit, disrespect for officials and profanity. The penalty for such action is a technical foul. Repeated acts shall result in expulsion from the game and a minimum fine of $250. A flagrant foul penalty (1) is unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent. A flagrant foul penalty (2) is unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. It is an unsportsmanlike act and the offender is ejected immediately. The offender will be subject to a fine not exceeding $20,000 and/or suspension by the Commissioner. See Rule 12B-Section IV-b (1) for interpretation and penalties.

The league office also can reclassify a foul as flagrant after the fact. Don't be surprised to see them do nothing, but they could give Martin and Buckner a flagrant for that same play, and that adds to Buckner's points since he already has a flagrant earlier in the series. The league can also look at the elbow that Buckner threw. If they want to send a message they'll probably make a case and suspend Buckner so they can avoid having to suspend Anthony.

I doubt the outcry will be that great in support of the Spurs anyway, so the league will let it go.

Why would he be? He thinks he got jobbed by the officials. You've seen the Nuggettes fans on here crying about the calls in the game, and you heard the coach, who put him up to the foul in the first place. It's too much of a coincidence that three people would mug Ginobili when the game's out of reach. He's a loser playing with loser teammates for a loser coach in front of a bunch of loser fans. They deserve to be fishing by Wednesday.

Boykins argued every whistle against him last night, including when he tripped over his own feet and fell knocking the ball out of bounds.

Yeah but he isn't the same class that K- and melo are.

Plus, Earl is only 5'5" and weighs 130 pounds...he couldn't physically injure our players even if he tried.

I think Buckner's shot was cheaper. He was clearly heading hunting on that foul.
What ? if your talking about the time he swung his elbows.. he didn't even hit him, manu just flopped out of nowhere...

unless you were talking about the elbow from manu that knocked buckner to the ground in game 1, yes that was alot cheaper

First off, why are you on a Spurs message board? Are you trying to wash the loser off you?

So since you're here, let's try to educate you on history rather than fiction. Buckner threw an elbow into Ginobili so Ginobili crowded him. Buckner's elbow, even though it missed, should have been an automatic technical, but it was ruled no call because the ref knew that Ginobili baited Buckner into it by the fact that it didn't connect.

And if you honestly think that Ginobili was able to intentionally hit a guy that is behind him in the jaw with his elbow while running flat out then you are more delusional than the average Nuggette know nothing.

Buckner threw an elbow at another player's head - if it had landed it could easily have broken Manu's cheekbone or eye socket. The fact that Manu was quick enough to duck out of the way is immaterial. The league is supposed to have a zero tolerance policy, and Buckner should have drawn an automatic 1-game suspension. The official was irresponsible for failing to take control of the situation.

Carmello waited until Manu was in the air and defenseless, and hit him with a forearm to the back of the head. There was ONLY one purpose for that move, and it was to try to hurt another player. It went beyond a hard foul, it was an assault.

A couple of years ago, Kevin Willis hit another player with an elbow in a playoff game. He was suspended for a game - even in the playoffs. I like Willis, and I am a Spurs fan, but I agreed with the league on that suspension. This year, after the debacle between Indiana and Detroit, the league was supposed to have gotten the message that they need to take control when these things happen, so that they don't escalate. By failing to suspend either Buckner or Anthony, the league (Stern) is encouraging it to happen again.

If either Buckner or Anthony had been successful with their attacks, they could have taken an all-star player out of the game, and possibly out of the playoffs. No suspension could compensate the Spurs for the loss of a player of Ginobili's caliber. But the league is saying that they won't take this kind of behavior seriously until someone is seriously injured.

Stern would turn it into a gladiator sport, if he thought it would raise ratings and revenues from Nike. Come to think of it - he basically has. If there is one big reason why U.S. teams are losing their dominance in international compe ion, it is because basketball skills are being replaced by combat skills.

I had a lot of respect for Denver as a team and for most of the players before this series started and very much just had a "may the best team win" at ude. However, after watching Denver for three straight games I am disgusted by this team. This team epitomizes what the NBA is tryingt o steer its image away from. A team full of wannabe thugs who are more worried about intimidating and punishing than playing basketball.

Then when they cant win with their own brand of basketball they and moan about the other team and players.

So, since about halfway through game two the only thing I have yelled while watching games is " the Nuggets." If this series gopes to 7 games I will be there wearing a shirt that says just that.

    who knows?

i hate the guys who are always blaming the officials when they lost the games.
