My point is they needed a bunch of lucky to happen for a "stretch run". The Celtics without KG and the Cavs were both two putrid teams at defending the pick and roll, so bad that Orlando got to basically pick and roll their way to the finals. The Carter trade was a gamble they needed to make, since they'll have to play legit defenses down the stretch and will need a guy like VC who can close games
LOL how is that "lucky" that they had mismatches that they could exploit ???

Turk was the brain and only true pg of Orlando last year. Without Turk controlling the ball in the 4. quarters, the Magic would have been running around like headless chickens against Celtics and Cavs. I doubt Carter will ever do that for Orlando especially we know how SVG and Nelson panics out when it comes to clutch.

It's no coincidence the Magic fan in this thread (aka the one who watched Turkoglu the entire time he was on Orlando, not just two recent playoff series where Turk had mismatches to exploit) doesn't miss Turkoglu one bit and knew he was replaceable. Idk when Turkoglu became the G.O.A.T. of good shot selection the way he gets talked about but people who seem to think his shot selection is so much better than VC's should look at the numbers. Rashard Lewis was just as if not more important to the Magic's playoff run last year.

It's worth noting that Turkoglu has gone to Toronto, done jack and is starting to pop up in articles about free agent busts. Meanwhile, the Nets won 34 games last year, brought in Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams and CDR, but losing Carter dropped them to a team that was in danger of being the all time worst team, and they probably won't even get 1/3 of their total wins from last year. If Carter is such a lazy pussified cancer the Nets wouldn't have completely imploded the way they did.

I always liked the mismatch he brought to the Magic as the gimmick. Carter was the better player, but was more likely to settle for jumpers than Hedo, and less likely to be the mismatch or gimmick, which I figured Orlando's offense was predicated upon. Carter has fit in nicely. Hedo, without Howard, Nelson and Lewis, is not nearly as effective a player...
    I think you're right.

Last year's Magic team was full of mismatches. Hedo playing point forward and initiating the offense... Rashard at the 4 running around the perimeter and launching 25-foot bombs... and then of course Dwight "The Human Mismatch" Howard in the middle who is as unorthodox and difficult to guard as any center in the league. Those mismatches really hurt their opponents, notably Cleveland, in the playoffs. That, with great defense, got them to the Finals. LA just had good counters to all those mismatches.

It would be awesome. Two guys who can hit from anywhere on the floor and take it to the rack. Pau's a decent outside shooter esp for a big man, but his range is limited to about 18 feet. Dirk is just money on those jumpers.
