Honestly, Im not even going to watch. Sure, I'll keep tabs on the scores, but I wouldnt shed 1 tear if somehow all players on both teams ended up getting season ending injuries.
son I agree with this 100%. nothing in this world would make me happier then to see Kobe Bryant have a career ending injury ... plus its WNBA time. you have Becky and the Silver Stars to watch now. no need to waste your time watching that scripted/controlled crap called the NBA.

Meh. I love the Lakers so of course glad I'm there. And because I'm a Laker fan I can appreciate the rivalry with the C's.

But I can understand why the appeal of "appreciate history" would leave fans of other teams cold. As a baseball fan, I have a minimal appreciation for the history of the Yankees and frankly couldn't care less about how their appearing in another World Series is somehow historically significant.

I think most fans kind of like to see the glory spread around a bit rather than a few clubs hogging all the les... unless it's your team dominating the rings of course.
    Point taken.

I guess it all depends how much you love that certain sport. I love my Lakers and Dodgers hard core but I'll still watch the Yankees and Red Sox solely because the purist in me loves the game. The game.

I am confident that the ratings will shine light that for the most part, America is going to keep a close eye on this one. I really think that ultimately, most will watch the series because the "lore" will somehow, someway capture the purist in all of us.

The biases in here are understandable.

$$$ says you'll more than keep tabs beyond just checking scores. You'll get hooked. It's only human.

BTW, season ending injuries are not cool for ANYONE.

Probably LA slightly, since I like Kobe better than KG. Still, an upset is always cool to see too.

I actualyl think you're probably right.

when I talk about "fans" I mean the type who inhabit this place... we're a more invested bunch. I don't think we represent the "typical" fan.

The more average fan probably does think this is a compelling matchup. Ratings will reflect that.

One thing I never quite understood is how can you be a hardcore fan of a team, your home town team or whatever, to the point of following them closely, going to games, discuss trades on a message board and all that but then not watch the NBA playoffs or the finals if your teams isn't there. I can understand being a casual fan of the team, get really involved only in the big moments but not caring about the rest of the league at all; but being a hardcore fan of the team while not being a NBA fan at all seems odd to me.

Really disliking the teams in the finals for some reason hence taking the principled position of not watching that exact clash I kind of get (even though I think it's a little over the top), but not caring at all is just weird.

I prefer both teams get diarrhea for the entire series to the point they have to put an out house on the court or the finals has to be completed by replacement players from the early 80s.

Like I said, I'll keep tabs but Im not emotionally invested enough into the series to spend my time watching 2 teams I hate as a fan.

even though I don't really care about either team I'd rather root for the lakers. At least, I respect Kobe and all because he has the right to be y. Unlike that -ass KG, ing hate him

agree, its hard to root for a team that crapped on your team over and over again.
Yeah, a team that's won 3 championships the last 7 years as opposed to
    1. Have to admit watching the Celtics kick the out of your team in 2008 was very entertaining.
