Dude your foot is your foot.
If you can dribble once and turn it into 95 MPH like Roddy your foot freakin matters.
He is ed for this next season for sure. It's hilarious. I mean it sucks for him and for the Mavs franchise.
But it's hilarious for Mav on this board who pimped Roddy. Welcome to the world of drafting Foreigners. Notice how the Spurs have drafted domestically the past three years.
To make myself clear:
Organized foreign play can destroy you.

Tough break for a very promising talent in the league. Get well soon Roddy!
yeah no doubt. he definitely played well vs the spurs in the first round when finally given the chance.
Come on guys. You are better than that. It's never good to laugh at someone else's misfortune.
this
Even though some mav fans are bags, I would never want an injury to occur on the Mavs roster
Might be a blessing in disguise. This will make him miss the Worlds and let him rest and be ready for the season.
Ariza had the 4th metatarsal broke when he was playing for the Lakers, and it took him about 8 weeks to recover. Being that Roddy is young and all, I think he'll be ready to start the season.
No one should be happy about injuries to anyone...awful for Beaubois and the Mavs...hope he gets well soon...
You gotta be loving this.![]()
I would ing never in a million years play for a national team and risk my career if I had NBA talent.
Spurs fans want karma too i guess with all that laughing and rofls.
So lets wait for a Parker/Gino offseason injury on the beach or humping Eva.
It sucks for Roddy, every experience on this level is important.
Agreed. Acting as though he Sean Livingstoned himself is a bit premature considering it's just his pinkie toe. He'll be fine by November at the latest.
Sounds like a Suns fan. They always pull that happy horse when disaster strikes. , Ron Artest can swoop in on a Kobe Bryant airball, grab it and fling it in at the buzzer and the tried & true Suns fan will find in disguise a blessing.
How is this either disastrous or in any way related to the Lakers? Guy broke a pinkie toe, not his spine.
I couldn't resist.
Sue me.
Mavericks' Roddy Beaubois breaks foot, could miss start of season

By BILL NICHOLS / The Dallas Morning News [email protected]
Mavericks point guard Roddy Beaubois suffered a broken bone in his left foot while training with the French national team. Mavs president Donnie Nelson on Friday confirmed the initial report by the French newspaper L’Equipe.
Beaubois reportedly could miss up to three months if surgery is required to repair the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot.
The NBA season begins in late October, which would put Beaubois in danger of missing the first part of the season.
Team owner Mark Cuban wrote in an e-mail to The Dallas Morning News, "It happens. He should be back for the start of the season."
Mavs officials hope it’s a hairline fracture. A timetable for his return will be determined when Beaubois is evaluated by team doctors. He was to fly back to Dallas late Friday.
Beaubois figures prominently in the Mavs’ future. He averaged 7.1 points and shot 52 percent from the field in 56 games his rookie season. He also made 40 percent of his 3-point attempts.
With the blessing of Mavs owner Mark Cuban and Nelson, Beaubois accepted a spot on the French national team in the FIBA world championships. He started his off-season at the Las Vegas Summer League in early July. The FIBA world championships begin on Aug. 28 in Turkey.
The Mavericks had been concerned about Beaubois’ participation if the French team had included Tony Parker because of limited playing time. They felt he could benefit more by training in Dallas.
But with Parker’s withdrawal, Beaubois stood to gain valuable experience with an expanded role against strong compe ion.
However, his injury illustrates why Cuban has been outspoken in his criticism of NBA players competing on national teams during the offseason. He said recently that there was ``zero upside.’’
Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki decided not to play for Germany at the 2009 European Championships because of a ``mutual agreement’’ he reached with Cuban. Cuban reportedly told Nowitzki that he’d prefer he not play but left the decision up to him.
According to the league’s agreement with FIBA, basketball’s international governing body, NBA teams cannot prevent their players from competing for international teams in the offseason provided those teams can afford the requisite insurance.
The Mavericks have worked during the summer with Beaubois on leadership, on holding the team together and keeping his poise even if things don't go well when it comes to shooting the ball. Hwoever, Beaubois struggled at times during NBA Summer League play.
Beaubois has all sorts of opportunities in front of him. Coach Rick Carlisle has said he wouldn't be surprised if Beaubois was in the starting lineup next season. Jason Kidd said he would consider playing off the bench to get the youngster more minutes.
However, just because he finished strong in his rookie season, there are no guarantees of success moving forward, especially now with an injury.

Good for Cuban.
As much as I dislike the Mavs (though I'm increasingly liking Cuban), this sucks. I don't agree with Parker, Manu, Splitter, anyone playing international play in the summer, just like I'm all for the players that bailed on the US. No different.
You are getting paid MILLIONS of dollars to play a game, which is essentially an investment, and I believe contracts should be structured wherein if the given player wants to play international (or even for the US team), they automatically are deducted pay or are at minimum guaranteed less money.
If you went out and bought a Formula 1 car, you'd want to save it for the races, right? Not drive it around day-to-day in traffic?
I understand these players having national loyalties -- in fact, I'm all for that -- but they have to understand that they are putting essentially an investment at risk, without compensation to the investor if they get in a fender-bender, or worse.
That's just messed up, and this is another example of it. I hope during the impending lockout this is one of the issues that will be resolved.
Until Media prompts a resolution they'll be none.
And they ain't about to cross the players.
The owners haven't the nerve to put a stop to it. They just whistle past their graveyard, fingers & toes crossed. They're chicken s.
I love how that quote directly contradicts the fact that they wouldn't have sent him if Parker had done because that meant little PT, but since Parker wasn't going then it was "good experience".
This.
There are some A$$hole Mavs fans but I have met a few cool ones, too (I work in Plano, TX)
I think HEALTH will play a a key role in deciding this year's champion ...ANYONE planning parades in L.A> or Miami better PRAY for good health.
Look what injuries have done to Houston, New Orleans and San Antonio the past few years!
, Denver got wiped by a injury and deadly illness ...
I can't laugh at this get well soon, Roddy.
True story saw Yao in an airport when he hurt his foot the first time...I wished him well and and a speedy recovery. He didnt say much back but just smiled.
I dont wish injury on any player ..
Exactly, injuries are just a part of the game, in any sport. You have one team that never gets injured, but because of that, some other teams have to take the brunt of injuries since they have to happen somewhere
lol Splitter strained his thigh earlier, at least he didn't break anything though.
I think George Hill broke his foot in college and ended up missing a season (though he might have broken it during the season). He's fine now though, obviously.
Im in the same boat with SamR I used to detest Cuban but have grown to like him and the basis of that is me being in 100% agreement with his stance on international play.
