In Spanish the right hand is the diestra and the left hand is the siniestra.
Siniestra translates as sinister or evil. Some other bible stuff that the left path is for the damned. I am sure there are a lot more religious reasons for it.
I remember my Grandma on my Dads side of the family (Mexican-side) telling my brother and I not to ever use our left hand for it was "the Devils" hand. She was a devout Catholic up until her death and I always wondered where she pulled that from.

True story.

A few months ago my mom said she was left handed but my Mexican grandma made her do everything with her right. I'm 28 and this was the first time I heard that she was left handed.
My 4 year old seems to be ambidextrous.
Good background info.
Thanks
Wife is left-handed and my good friend is also.
Lefties are a strange bunch when it comes to routine tasks. They, in my experience, cannot decide what "hand" they are.
A new thread could be made with just this line....
"Oh, I'm left-handed but I _______ right-handed."
1. bat
2. throw
3. wipe
4. smoke
5. disc
6. shoot
etc, etc
Lefties always have this long-ass list of things they do right-handed and are completely unpredictable in this regard. God forbid a lefty have to try something new that requires some modi of coordination, first they have to find out what "handedness" they are.
Like I said, weird.
I was originally born left handed but since I was a child I was always taught to use my right hand for everything. I write with my right hand, but everything else is left handed for me. And I didn't find out till I was older when I did that eye test that I was left handed. That's why I'm really tough to guard in bball because I'm comfortable going either left or right.
My oldest writes with his right hand but eats and brushes his teeth with his left.
The reasons were more sanitary than religious. Same as why tradition is to shake hands with the right and not the left.
Before toilet paper the left hand was traditionally used for wiping your ass.
The only thing I do with my right hand is use a mouse and thats because everyone else in my family is right handed so the mouse was always on the right side of the keyboard.
Even though my office phone is on the right side of my desk, I still reach across and answer it with my left hand and put the reciever on the left side of my head. Dont know why I havnt just moved it to the other side of the desk.![]()
I beleive this is a left hand right?

Anyone can shoot they're load left handed when they go for the money shot. Doesn't mean you're jerking off.

True. I bat and cut scissors righty.
I usually laugh and point whenever I see left-handed people write. Or is it point and laugh...........
disagreed on this tbh. im ambidextrous and i'm a celibate. when using my left hand writing i kinda sense im thinking in a quite different way, and i will feel a bit difficulty in the first several lines of writing after i revert to my right hand.
