Too early yet in the season to contemplate this IMHO.
Splitter hasn't been totally integrated into the system, nor is he familiar with all the players he'll be competing against.
I'm quite sure the coaching staff is fully aware of this and are bringing him on slowly so he contributes in the most positive way possible as soon as possible ala Dice, Blair, Hill, and RJ.
No need to rush that. If he is ready by the playoffs, that will be fine with me.
Same goes for Anderson when he gets back.
Contrary to popular belief, there is a learning curve in integrating well with the Spurs system.

Just consider the weakest link for a moment, Udoka.
All in all, defensively he isn't that bad and actually pretty decent, especially for a part time player to replace Anderson until he comes back.

Younger players like Blair and Hill must step up. I agree with you on that. And Tiago will have to continue to improve his game so he'll be ready for the playoffs.

What is that suppose to prove? Kerr is some type of all star. Kerr was a role player or filler player.

You want to argue semantics - fine. Filler usually means something worthless used to take up space. Like dirt. The Bulls would very likely be a ring or two short if they hadn't had Kerr on that team. The Spurs would very likely be a ring or two short if not for Bowen locking down the best player on the other teams night after night. , the Spurs might have one less ring if not for Kerr steadying the ship a couple of times during the playoffs.

Those guys were integral parts of championship teams. Calling them filler suggests that you could have put any warm body in their place and get the same results. Like it or not, words have meanings - they are no more interchangeable than basketball players.

If Bowen was just filler, then Ime Udoka should have been able to step right into his spot with the same results. You're not suggesting that Bowen and Ime are anywhere in the same class are you? Ime was filler. Bowen wasn't. Period.

This is gonna be a short thread.

Our championship hopes rely on Dejuan Blair,George Hill, and Richard Jefferson becoming the backbone of our offense. Duncan/Parker/Ginobili are still the leaders and go-to-guys at the end, but Duncan and Ginobili are too old to be doing it night-in-night-out as they were in prior years. What will put the team on top is if Dejuan Blair,George Hill, and RJ can have consistent impact and help the spurs become a BIG 6.

Pre 2008 Spurs had the BIG 3 featuring fillers like Horry/Bowen/Finley.

2010 Spurs need the BIG 6 to win the championship.
"Rely" and "Backbone" is too strong IMO, esp on offense. They need to be consistent on both offense AND defense.

I agree with where youre going with this, whenever you can get efficient scoring games from RJ, Hill and Blair, the spurs are in great shape to win games.

Our Championships hopes depend on how we respond to big elite frontcourts, and Pop's coaching and rotation with our own frontcourt in response to those opposing elite frontcourts.

I really think your the one arguing semantics. You will be hard pressed to find a knowledgable spurs fan who discredits what Bowen meant to the spurs. I admit, Bowen = Filler is too harsh and I apologize. But his duties were to "FILL" two duties. Play the best defender and make the corner 3. I don't think he ever had more responsibilities than these two things. He is a glorified Filler. He was still the reason we won a championship because to be a champion you have to be a "complete team" and Bowen fit that mold perfectly. Its easy to say "Filler" too because we always refer to Bowen's role as "we need to FILL IN the small forward position" etc..

If you wanna fight back about it, I understand, but in no way did I suggest he was just some throw away player like your saying...

Not just efficient but, I think its time for George Hill and Dejuan Blair to step up and really be a catalyst in our offense. Its time to give Manu and Timmy a break, they deserve it I spoke too soon on RJ. I don't expect anything more than RJ the sharp shooter role.

bowen was not a filler. he was as crucial to the spurs winning or losing as any other player. his defense on the opposing teams best player night in night out will never be forgotten by true spurs fans

    lebron is a filler

I would never ever refer to Bowen as a "filler".

When Bowen was in the lineup it was the big 4 IMO

You are a stooge. Just because a team does well one year in the playoffs doesn't mean they carry that forward. Right now Boston is playing the best ball in the league IMO. Their defense has been awesome. The Lakers just aren't the same team they were last year. Right now they have to be considered 3rd in line behind both SA and Dallas. Injuries may play a roll ultimately, but the Spurs chances are more dependant IMO on improving on the defensive end some. If they can move from 11th in points allowed to 6th or 7th I would take them against anyone in the league in a7 game series.

You obviously are a tool and surely you know it. Not even turds are that stupid.

The Spurs have a chance. No one needs to get hurt. It's a ing game dip .
