Hornets will try to sucker the Mavs into trading for Ariza. Don't do it Cubes!
Sucks for the Mavs and sucks for Butler, he was in his contract year. Now i guess he will get kind of MLE money and not more. He will lose a lot of money.

I'll be honest. I never liked Butler that much. He's ok, but I prefer Marion at SF. I would look to acquire a shooter like Kapono.
tbh if Roddy ever comes back, another SF really isn't what the Mavs need. Stevenson could probably play a little backup 3 along with his 2-guard duties. They need a backup PF more than anything.
I hear that Trevor Ariza guy is pretty good.
you were the one like a week ago who was all " no I wouldn't trade Butler for Melo" and now you're talking like he's chopped liver. Make up your mind, trick!
Butler wasn't the piece anyways. This will force Cubes to actually find that second scorer.
The question is who?
I don't think tanking is an option when the Mavs are positioned pretty well in the standings. You don't want to waste a season of the Chandler/Dirk duo. Plus Kidd is only getting older.
The piece is running water and medical supplies in your former jungle country.

Butler/Roddy/Haywood for Jackson/Diop
non Mav fans, is this trade at all realistic? Would the Bobcats go for it? I'm basing this partially on Jordan wanting to rebuild/Jordan having a hard-on for former UNC guys/Jordan being dumb.
Are you aware that Diop is out for the season?
I wouldn't do that trade.
although it's moot since Cuban is basically on record that he won't trade Roddy unless it's in a package to get a superstar.
no i didn't. doesn't matter, Mahinmi can handle backup C.
Not even Jordan is that dumb. That's Isiah Thomas level stupid there.
sucks.
funny thing is Spurs have just what Mavs need to run next to Kidd and Dirk, Jefferson.
Jax
Crash (Bobcats need to call it a season)
Prince
Iggy
Rip (do not want)
Mayo (unhappy and Grizzlies are the most stupid franchise in the NBA)
I don't think he has proven that he can tbh. I don't want that got Diop on the payroll for another two years anyway.
If you cut Roddy out of that trade, I might be able to take the risk on losing Haywood.
let's also be real Mavs fans. How much is Roddy REALLY going to be able to help. He's going to be rusty as and not 100% probably until next season.
thats a huge blow to the mavs.....thats why dirk shoulda signed with the spurs for MLE......
I was a Haywood believer for a while, even as sribb was pronouncing him the worst signing in the history of humanity, but Haywood is just intent on being a . When they trade him, good riddance.
I like Butler, but I agree that Marion probably fits at the starting SF position better for what the Mavs need. I always thought that Butler would actually be better off the bench.
mavfans do not get any of your hopes up. Truth is this news just destroyed any real mav chances to even get to WCF.
Just remember those stupid spurs fans that beleived Spurs could beat the Mavs w/out Manu.(me included) Learn from that experience...
When Kidd and Dirk are a couple of your main pieces, the idea of "next year" has a very short lifespan. If it's not this year for a team with Kidd at the helm, the year after looks even more bleak. They know they need to build off the early season success of this year and reload in time for a playoff run this season. They'll definitely make a move, but they may see how these other guys step up and hold pat until the All-Star break.
You mean all those years of seeing the other guys, um, never step up isn't entering their minds?
Is it possible for a Spurs fan to talk about another team without bringing up their own? Who gives a about Manu in this case?
And I'm not 100% sold that the Mavs chances of progressing through the playoffs rested on the shoulders of Caron Butler.
