I would not be suprised at all to see Artest land in Chicago. Scott Skiles is a hard nosed defensive coach who thinks he can control egos. Rumor is they are also looking for a combo guard who can play some defense and would most likely deal their draft pick + some talent for one. If Paxson could keep Artest in line he would be perfect on that team.

Wow, artest on that team, with a healthy Curry (if he resigns) would be crazy. If Artest can control himself, they would be a serious contender in the east! (If they didnt have to give up too much for him)

Indiana will have to part with Artest at a discount precisely because he is a headcase. Not too many teams would take a chance on him for that reason but there's no denying his talent. Having him on the Spurs would take us to another level and if anyone could control him it would be Pop. I doubt Indiana keeps him on their roster.

Another interesting trade I was thinking of would be packaging Rasho + whatever back to Minny for Sczerbiak. Minny wanted to keep Rasho and Wally wants out. Candy was a total bust for them as expected. The chances that they help a conference rival are slim of course.

That's funny. No way are bulls gonna clear some cap space by getting rid of their young talent for a cap hit like artest who is mentally ill. He's not like isiah rider, he's got some sort of crazy in his head.

The bulls are my 2nd fav team, they're looking for a taller guard 6-5 6-6 who can defend the 2 and/or 1. Something like a midlevel exemption type of player. They got a nice nucleus of young talent like gordon, hinrich, curry, deng, and chandler.

They wouldn't screw it up for a head case like artest.

Artest would love it in SA since it is so Defense oriented and they are all about winning. However despite his troubles he too talented to give up for Rasho and a pick. The main problem with Rasho is his contract Spurs way overpaid for him he is due 32.4 mil over the next 4 years that is way too much, the spurs are going to be stuck with him.

    SA-Ind

    Rasho+pick for Ron Artest.

Would you take this risk? Would Indy be this desperate to get rid of him? Could Pop control him? Would you add Barry/Devin/Beno etc. to sweeten the deal? They need a Miller replacement.

Bowen is getting long in the tooth and this guy would be a great replacement if we could get his head screwed on straight. His offense, although not completely needed is also light years ahead of Bowen's. What would we do with Bowen though if we landed him?

    Discuss.

I really think you could've made a better example or something...

Rasho for Artest is really kind of a joke.

Artest is their best player period.

He's their leading scorer and their best defender...he shoots threes and he rebounds the ball..steals..blocks.

Compare him to Rasho and he'll outplay rasho at center!

being stuck with a more than serviceable backup center is not a bad thing. you have to keep him till you are damn sure nazr would re-up anyways.

Artest isn't going anywhere and neither is JO, Tins or Jax...or Foster for that matter. The only pacers who are probably up on the block are more than likely, Bender, J.Jones, and Pollard.

Didn't Larry Bird just say last week (or the week before) that they didn't want Artest, Jackson, and Tinsley all back because that was too many high-strung personalities on one team? I would guess that means at least one of them is getting moved.

Do you people think really think that Artest is going to land a max contract somewhere given his personality problems? As docile as Rasho is, he's still a better-than-average bigman in this league and a desirable commodity. He makes 7M/yr. How many teams will throw more than that kind of money at Artest?

Artest is a great player, but at this point I wouldn't take him even if they offered to pay Rasho's contract and send him back at the minimum salary. Dude's trouble.

I hope thsoe guys aren't going anywhere. That make one les contender for the Spurs.

Pacers are losing two of their precious few voices of reason, Miller and Brown. Carlisle is publicly calling out O'Neal to step up, be a mature leader. Good luck their Rick. Bird is talking about adding Sarunas, a talented player but with a reputation of being a hothead on the court. Indianna needs another hothead like a forest fire needs a match. The Pacers are well on the way to being Portland east.

Whatever Pooh. Indy wants to clean up its franchise, and it wouldn't accomplish that by keeping all the hot heads and trading its quality guys.

Imagine for a second a defensive-oriented lineup that consists of:

    Manu
    Bowen
    Artest
    Duncan
    Nazr

Manu, Bowen and Artest would be wrecking havoc in the perimenter with Tim and Nazr protecting the paint. No other team would be able to score a single point against that lineup! It would be ridiculously funny

I don't see the Spurs bringing in a guy who went after fans in the stands. there is only so much bend in the Spurs organization for bad boys (we've had a few) but there is a line they won't cross, even for Superman.

If the Pacers are going to get rid of one of Tinsley, Jack, or Artest, they're going to wait until after the draft. If they can find a decent PG, Tinsley is gonzo. If not, then Jack is next. It is highly unlikely they would trade Artest because 1) he's really effing good; and 2) they can't get equal talent in return because of the fight.

The last thing I saw written was that the Pacers were on record saying they weren't going to trade Artest. Does anybody have a link to this Bird quote about a trade?

How about when you make a trade proposal you think about the other teams need's also. Rasho and late 1st rounder is garbage. You couldn't even get one of their role players for that. Rash is overpaid and not even decent. It's kind of like when you dumped Malik's contract and got something better in return. Zeke must have been smokin some good stuff when he made that trade.
