Spurs in 5.
Grizz are fools. Our perimeter scoring and ball movement is just going to tear them apart. My only concern is how much collateral damage our big men take from the physical play down low.

Can't. Stop. Looking. At. Signature.
will be a very physical serious especially against a formidable front line of gasol and randolph plus elite defenders in allen and battier. this might wake the spurs up or cause them limping into the second round. we will see.
Spurs in a quick 5 with or without Manu.
Seven games is far too long.
I say Spurs in 5 if Ginobili's injury isn't serious. It wouldn't surprise me if the Spurs try to sweep these guys. Tanking to to fall to SA is the ultimate sign of disrespect and I think the Spurs will take it personal.
Thought this belongs here too.
http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/ginobi..._update_110414Manu Ginobili Doubtful For Game 1
SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2011) - Spurs guard Manu Ginobili had an MRI earlier today in San Antonio. The MRI showed that he has a right elbow sprain. The injury occurred in the first quarter of last night’s Spurs-Suns game. Ginobili has already begun his rehabilitation process and will be listed as doubtful for Game 1 of the Spurs-Grizzlies series, which is scheduled for noon on Sunday at the AT&T Center.
i hope ginobili can hold a broom for the sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!

...BOTTOM LINE
Duncan's Spurs have never lost a first-round series when healthy, and they aren't going to waste the No. 1 seed in the West by taking a win against Memphis for granted. They may lose an early game in the series, but thereafter they'll exhibit a playoff-level discipline and intensity that will provide a good lesson for the promising young Grizzlies. Spurs in 5.

• Size in San Antonio
The Spurs may have to go through Memphis, Oklahoma City and the Lakers, all teams that have imposing front lines capable of hurting you on both ends. That’s notable, because this version of the Spurs has thrived on smaller lineups and three-point shooting, and it has not been able to get consistent production from a legit big man other than Tim Duncan. DeJuan Blair opened the season as a starter, but he’s undersized and has since been used off the bench. Antonio McDyess is starting now, but he’s almost 37 and averaged only 19 minutes this season. Tiago Splitter never emerged as a consistent rotation threat, though he could be a Gregg Popovich secret weapon in the playoffs.
That has left Matt Bonner to log a lot of minutes at power forward. His three-point shooting has fit beautifully with what this roster is built to do: spread the floor, run pick-and-rolls with Duncan, cut and screen everywhere, and rain triples.
Will that be enough against the West’s behemoths? Or will Popovich adjust his minutes distribution to get more size on the floor?
• Memphis, turnovers and the basketball gods
The Grizzlies, suffering a severe case of Lakers paranoia, unexpectedly tanked their final two games instead of gunning for the sixth seed. They’ll face the top-seeded Spurs instead, and that will provide a fascinating test for the Grizzlies’ unique style. Memphis defense put up one of the highest turnover rates in recent history. Guys like Tony Allen (a legit folk hero in Memphis now), Mike Conley and Sam Young gamble in passing lanes, guard you chest-to-chest and feast on steals. All those turnovers lead to easy points and make up for the fact that Memphis’ opponents shoot a decent percentage from the field — and a very good percentage from three-point range.
Whether that can work against San Antonio in the playoffs is debatable. Few teams take care of the ball as well as the Spurs, and few feature an offense better suited to making teams play for gambling. All of those backdoor cuts, surprise perimeter screens and swing passes punish overeager defenders.
But this is the matchup the Grizzlies wanted. Now they’re stuck with it.
PREVIEW: Spurs vs. Grizzlies
This is the same hype the 2005 Nuggets were getting because they were on fire going into the playoffs and had played well against us. Yeah they upset us in game 1 because we missed a million shots but after that we crushed them, the same thing we'll do to Memphis.
This is exactly what the Spurs needed. Some fuel to the fire.
Sean Elliotts words will be the theme for this series:
"Be careful what you wish for Memphis..."
Just win game 1 without Manu and the series is done. That will really send a message to these s.
i love Tim's quote... you can tell he's pissed off.
i expect Tim to go for 30 in Game 1.
also in 2003 The Suns were considered a bad match up for us, had owned the regular season against us, and every talking head said Marbury could shut Parker down and was a Spurs killer. If it weren't for a bull Amare banked three in game one we would have annihilated them.
I think, regardless of the amount of games, it is going to be physical. I can see the Spurs blowing them up, but I could also see 6 games.
I hope they kick the ever loving out of these tanking man pleasers.
Ugh, dont remind me...that was my 1st ever Playoff game...![]()
Who is the expert in this list? They're all amateurs.
You know the Griz are screwed when even Jon "I hate the Spurs" Barry is picking them.

By Fran Blinebury, for NBA.com
...Five quick questions
1. Is Tim Duncan worn out? Don't bet on it.
2. Who is top shooter in the series? Either Matt Bonner or Gary Neal.
3. Who is most tired when it's over? Shane Battier after chasing Ginobili all over the floor.
4. Will a sore elbow and knee slow Zach Randolph? Nothing else has so far this season.
5. Who needs to step up big for Memphis? Welcome to the playoffs, Mike Conley.
...Prediction
The holes in the Spurs' defense will allow the Grizzlies to finally win their first playoff game ever. But San Antonio takes it in five.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.c...antonio-spurs/How they can win it all: San Antonio Spurs
Kurt Helin
Two teams executed what they wanted to do this season better than any other — the Chicago Bulls on defense, the San Antonio Spurs on offense.
Yet, when the talk of a le came up it was always the Lakers out of the West, Miami and Boston in the East.
“I think we’ve been a pain in the ass for the press this year, we just get in the way of the conversation…” Gregg Popovich said before his team took on the Lakers.
The Spurs have always been fine with that. It’s not about flash, it’s about execution and belief in a system. That execution is half of what the Spurs need to win.
Sticking to the system that is their strength. It’s not the system itself — what the Spurs run is not better or worse than the Lakers triangle, or what is done in Boston, Chicago, or even Memphis and Philadelphia. What is different in San Antonio is the willingness to stick to that system and execute it properly every time down. They as a team commit to the system in a way other teams do not.

http://www.commercialappeal.com/news...purs-noon-tnt/Geoff Calkins: Memphis Grizzlies see 'a good matchup'
By Geoff Calkins
Memphis Commercial Appeal
...The Grizzlies may or may not have wanted San Antonio as their opponent in the first round of the playoffs, but they're certainly not shaking in their Nikes because that's how it worked out.
"We feel pretty confident about it," said Grizzlies forward Darrell Arthur. "I think it's a good matchup for us."
...But they certainly don't fear San Antonio, don't think they're outgunned or outclassed.
Indeed, if you want to get a rise out of the Grizzlies, just try suggesting that they should be pleased if -- unlike their Memphis playoff predecessors -- they can manage to win a single game.
Arthur: "I feel like we can win a series."
Mike Conley: "There's no reason we can't play the Spurs and we can't beat the Spurs."
Shane Battier: "If we play well, we have a shot to win."
Hollins: "Getting to the playoffs to win one game, we might as well have just stayed home."

http://www.memphisflyer.com/Beyondth...rizzlies-spursSeries Preview: Ten Questions (and Answers) about Grizzlies-Spurs
by Chris Herrington
Memphis Flyer
...6. Wait, the Spurs won 61 games and still have a championship-tested core. Why did the Grizzlies want to play them, again?
Good question. For the sake of clarity, it's not so much that the Grizzlies' wanted to play the Spurs as that they didn't want to play the Lakers — and decided the combination of certainty and resting core players trumped attempting to move up in pursuit of the Mavericks and risk finding the Lakers instead. Personally, I would have played straight up against Portland and then re-evaluated the situation heading into that final game against the Clippers. But what's done is done.
...10. Do the Grizzlies have a decent chance to pull the upset?
Probably not. Playoff basketball is typically not a young man's game and the Spurs have an enormous edge in post-season experience, both on the court and on the bench. And a #8 seed has only upset a #1 seed once since first-round series expanded to seven games.
...I think there's a chance that this isn't your typical 1/8 match-up. That these teams are closer than that. But the Spurs' experience and home-court advantage is just too much to overcome:
Prediction: Spurs in 6
I love it. "If he's down for the count, Spurs in 6."![]()
Parker beats Ginobili as Spurs' top scorer...Parker logged a little more than 25 minutes in Wednesday's 106-103 loss at Phoenix while fighting a chest cold. He hopes to be over it before the playoffs begin Sunday against Memphis.
“My chest was burning,” Parker said. “I played 25 minutes to try and get it out. By this weekend, I'll be fine.”
