I think the bobcats are dumb enough to do this. I wouldn't mind that trade. Gives us one more chance to contend in my opinion. I think the Spurs need to decide if they want to contend or blow it up and start over. If they were to blow it up, parker would be the only piece they could trade... I think Duncan and Ginobili will be in a spurs uniform as long as they want. They have earned that.

Disagree on the pg..... a back-up point guard is less needed than having a decent option with some size at small forward. Honestly a Hill-Ginobli platoon running point can be successful for 15 minutes or so per game which is all Parker should actually need. Jefferson is a declining player who is/was dependent on his athleticism for getting most of his points on fastbreaks or drives, and is something of a streak shooter. His defense was at best only moderately above average when he was interested playing with the Nets with Kid and has declined since. When interested he does a decent enough job nothing spectacular but when plays aren't being run for him 1 trip in 3 down the floor his concentration disappears and he can never seem to really get back into the flow of the game.
A good center and a backup PG will allow BC players to develop. We aren't getting great shooters who can also drive the lane. Those people are expensive and don't want to be in SA. So we have to settle for good backup PG and a solid big and hope people like RJ, Neal and Hill can make it happen from the wings.

Why has Manu earned it and Parker not?

Manu is the player the Spurs should be shopping for a young big. Anderson and Hill can man the sg slot.

Yeah, like Bonner mans the PF slot effectively...until the playoffs. There aren't too many "closers" in the league, and if you're planning on contending, you DON'T trade one.

Awful trade. Stephen Jackson is getting old as quick. Tyrus Thomas' basketball IQ ranges anywhere from Drew Gooden to DJ Mbenga.

I personally would prefer a George Hill and RJ swap for SJax and a 1st round pick. While your contention regarding Jackson's aging is a concern it hasn't affected his production: Last year he played in 67 games compared to his career average of 67.9, 35.9 mpg vs. 33.5, FG% of 41.1 vs 41.9, 3p% of 33.7 vs 33.9, FT% of 81.6 vs 79.9, rebounds per game of 4.5 vs 4.0, assists per game of 3.6 vs 3.3, steals of 1.4 vs 1.2, blocks of .4 vs .4, points per game of 18.5 vs. 16.3. So statistically it was an average year for SJax. He has only 2 years left on his contract vs. 3 for Jefferson. Yes, you give up an important part of the team in Hill, but we are loaded at the 2 and a Charlotte draft pick could be significant.

Manu doesn't close anything except the Spurs chances every year. Counting on this guy to be healthy enough to carry the team is failure. He is not the type of player that can be the main guy or so called closer on a championship team.

Bonner should not be seeing more than a few minutes a game.
