The biggest difference between Kobe & MJ is that Kobe was able to win without another Hall of Famer playing alongside him. MJ couldn't do squat without Pippen. This should put an end to it all really:

Also, it's well known that neither Kobe nor the last decade Lakers develop anyone, players or coaches. They extract talent from the NBA by means of strong handed, deep pocketed "negotiations" that lead to people like Shaq and Pau going to LA. No other team in the league save Boston would be able to attract that level of effective talent. Lebron went to play with his friend in Miami, but normally talent like that ends up in LA or Boston.
