Championships don't matter
MPG don't matter
These are your criteria.
Stick to the topic at hand: Duncan is not a perimeter player.
Laker fans talk high and mighty about Kobe's spot on the all time scoring list making him one of the greatest ever, despite him having a few years head start on most of those guys on the list.
Yet, they fail to recognize that the downfall is it's effect on his productivity in his mid 30's. If he truly is 2nd to only MJ at his position, why the significant difference in stats compared to the other perimeter greats?
If anything his scoring at his age should be WAY AHEAD of those guys, since today's NBA rules cater to guys like him.
^He's going for the scoring le. And everybody knows it. Stern. Only Stern can stop him. Like he stopped Malone. He may too. Kobe owes Stern for standing with him in Eagle. But, if Stern grants permish, it's over. Kobe will bury it.
IF you are right Cubby, and If Kobe's trying to reach #1 on the list, why are his scoring stats so much lower than the other perimeter greats? Shouldn't he be averaging 26-28ppg if that is the ultimate goal? The stats show he'll run out of gas before he reaches #1.
Unless Kobe finishes his career WAY AHEAD of him, Karl Malone's points totals and longevity are more impressive, seeing as how he had 4 years of college and still played 19 NBA seasons, in a position where he took more of a daily beating than Kobe ever has.
Kobe didn't waste 1-4 years in college.
If he can't win a le (and he's knows when it's within sight or not) he'll pile the points, like he did prior to Gasol coming west. Kobe doesn't care about pretense. That dream ended in Eagle. Kobe doesn't care about discourse. That dream ended in Eagle. He cares about raw results. He retired Daddy 1 up. He matched Magic. If he has to, he'll go elsewhere to chase Jabbar's record. If Stern babysits him, he'll bury it.
Exactly why him being where he is on the scoring list is not all that impressive. Same as Moses Malone, he had several years head start on guys who did go to college. Two guys play 18 years in the league, one of them from age 22 to 40, the other guy from age 18 to 36. Who had the more impressive career? I take Guy A.
So if Mike Brown turns out to be a failure at managing Kobe's ego they way he failed to manage Lebron's (remember how he quit on the Cavs and couldn't wait to leave), you are saying Kobe will go into chucker mode and shoot his team right out of contention?
Problem is, Kobe can't dominate games anymore the way he did from '05 to '07where he had that string of 50 pt games. If he tried doing that now, the Lakers would go 1-9 that month while Kobe shot 34% from the field. You think Artest is crazy now, wait til he sees THAT Kobe come out to play.
You know, Dunc, you're a real-time .
O this ain't 2006!We don't need 35.4ppg from Kobe nowadays. Surely if we needed him to pump in 30+ he can still do that.

There's the Cubby I know and love. I've missed the REAL you... You know, the one that refuses to have a REAL bball discussion, because he's too busy trollin'
Come ta pappy!
lmcontrollinao!
lm(about to be)emulatedao!
Sure... he could give you 30+ consistently this year... but it would come on 9/29 shooting from the field with 10/12 FT's.... CONSISTENTLY...
I guess the Lakers didn't need it in the second round![]()

MPG don't count
FYI for Dumb n Dave:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar *383872.
Karl Malone *369283
Michael Jordan *322924
Wilt Chamberlain *314195
Shaquille O'Neal 285966
Kobe Bryant 27868
By end of next season, he will be #5 all-time. Where is TOSB on this list?![]()
Touche'
And all the guys ahead of him on the list went to college, meaning Kobe passing them is not impressive when he started at 18/19 yrs old and they all started at 20-22 . So what's your point again? This is about perimeter players, or did your brain forget what thread you are in already?
Dumb n Dumber, first off Kobe was drafted at age 17. Second, he was in a seat belt until Eddie Jones had an injury when he was 19. So for him to be #6 all-time after really 13 years of work is pretty damn impressive (even if your dumbass won't admit it).
Timmy Tongue Ring Duncan is #21 in total rebounds.![]()
he has a permanently arthritic finger since 08
Kobe didnt become a starter till his 3rd year, and in that 3rd year there was only 50 games
so Kobe didnt play a full season as a starter until his 4th year, age 21

Look at Kobe and his peers. He is on Shaq's ass and Shaq's been the man (#1 option) since day one. Kobe didn't become #1 option until 2006 - his 10th year in the league.![]()
actually until the 2002-03 season
and didnt get the "green light" until the 2004-05 season
Hey, dumb , why do you insist on bringing up people who are not perimeter players in this thread? Did your ADD meds wear off tonight already? This thread is about legendary PERIMETER players, but it seems you can't get that through your thick head. So take Kobe's out of your mouth so you can hear over the slobbering sound you're making....
And quit moving the goal posts. Kobe didn't play a single game (pre-season or regular season at age 17. He was 18 when the season started, and 18 when training camp started. Nice try... He still had a HUGE lead on the other guys in the Top 25 (except for Moses) who spent time in college.
Compare the number of games he's played to get his spot compared to the others in the Top 10. If Kobe plays just 3 more seasons (18 seasons total) and retires at age 35, he'll have played more games than everyone in the Top 10 except for Karl Malone and Jabbar who played until they were at or near 40 (19-20 seasons).
The difference? Jabbar and the Mailman were getting it done at age 39 and 40 playing a position that is tougher on the body (in a much more physical era), while Kobe is finishing his work at 35, while being protected by the guard friendly rule changes that make him untouchable for defenders.
What Jabbar and Malone accomplished is more impressive than anything Kobe could do.
You may continue slobbin' Kobe's knob now... just don't let him on your face, cuz that's his thing, according to the Colorado police.
I'm a man that don't don't own a tongue ring. Sorry.
You mad bruh? Fine, Kobe didn't play until he was 18. I said he was drafted at age 17 which is true. Now you moving goal posts. Is it Kobe's fault he was the only guard in NBA history good enough to be drafted straight out of high school? How about practicing with the 76ers at age 16?
Kobe's not a TOSB so he will play well beyond 35. No need to worry. And despite the fact that every year (other than the tanking to draft Bynum) he's been in the playoffs. This part of your post is irrelevant.
Don't give me any of that BS. Kobe can play in any era and dominate. You right, that era was physical and I stick by my guns when I say Tongue Ring wouldn't be no better than Daughterty was. You need evidence? He's too slow for most PFs like Stoudamire, Gasol, KG, etc. so now that you guys play him at center (his college position) he is reduced to 13/8. That's Chris Mihmesque if you ask me.
Especially at age 35![]()
Do you want to know what Chris Rock thinks about people that wear tongue rings?![]()
Face it dude, the only reason this thread exists is to take the heat off of Tongue Ring. Tongue Ring is celebrated for having a 1,000 straight seasons of 50 or more wins, yet in still it's:
Kobe: 5
TOSB: 4
