I have to go with Udoka, as I seriously cannot remember a single good memory of his time on the Spurs. Kersey and Vaughn belong nowhere near this list, as Kersey gave the Spurs some really nice minutes (including a 40 foot shot at the buzzer) against LA in the 99 le run. Then Vaughn hit a couple of really big shots late in the 3rd to put Phoenix away in game 6 in 2007. Udoka on the other hand was brought in to be a defensive player, but ended up looking as bad as Steve Smith, Antonio Daniels, and Derek Anderson guarding the swing positions.
2009 Udoka was so ridiculously slow it was hard to watch. I forgive 2008 Udoka because the Spurs probably don't win the Hornets series without his surprisingly hot shooting. Looking back at it, he was 11-for-17 on threes in the final four games of that series. Not sure what the got into him, tbh.

Unfortunately, Pop decided to put him on Kobe in Game 1 of the WCF for no good reason in what I consider to be his worst coaching move ever.

I still can't believe the Spurs brought Udoka back a second time for a little while
Yeah, if we are talking about worst player with no restrictions, 2011 Udoka has a damn good case.

Udoka and Mason don't belong in there. They may have disappointed compared to some of the expectations set for them, but they had good moments. As for Udoka I have only a couple vague positive memories, plus the reverse dunk against the Hornets in a tight series; Roger won games for us against the Suns on Christmas, the Lakers, the Celtics, and a few other games. Plus that first year he was great ('Money Mason').

Pop playing Nick Van Exel alone (though other things contributed also) might have cost us a championship (and a back-to-back championship at that).

It's RJ by a country mile. Everyone else cited is pretty much a scrub, and there's nothing noteworthy about a turd playing like a turd.

RJ went from being a fairly decent scorer to being an astonishingly awful player the moment he put on a Spurs uniform.
From 19.6 ppg to 12.3 ppg in his first year as a Spur doesn't adequately capture how far he fell off when he came to San Antonio imo. He hasn't fit in in any way, shape or form.
Look at him now - he looks like he doesn't even belong in the league. Pretty amazing for a guy who hasn't suffered any major injuries and averaged nearly 23pts a game not that long ago.

I voted Nick. He was worthless. The other guys provided some kind of value at some point or at least contributed in a game that mattered at some point.

    1999 Steve Kerr
    2000 Jaren Jackson
    2003 Steve Smith

Off the top of my head. I would say Finley's last year but he broke Pop's heart by asking to be waived sooner than 50 games in.
Crofl, I remember mookie joking in 03 how it wasn't possible for someone to stay that cold for so long

Wow, I never knew Udoka hit a three in a Spurs uniform. I must have been drunk those 4 games tbh.

Hmm, on second thought when you consider how much undeserved trust Pop invests in Bonner, and how bad Bonner actually is...

Matt Bonner is nowhere near the worst Spur in the Duncan era

There have certainly been less talented players, but:

Bonner's a turd who on rare occasions looks decent in meaningless, regular season games. He's also a big factor in the Spurs turning away from sound, fundamental defense-oriented basketball and embracing spread-the-floor nonsense.

Pop continues to invest in this turd. Bonner has damaged our championship ambitions immensely.

Really it started with Horry. You can blame Pop's idiocy for thinking Bonner could ever be Robert Horry

    1. Richard Jefferson
    2. "The centerpiece" Keith Bogan
    3. Matt Bonner (he's on this list because of his complete lack of playoff success, which is astonishing given how many games he's been in)
    4. Dejuan Blair
    5. Nick Van Exel / Damon Stoudemire (both we're equally bad)

I have to disagree with Bonner being a factor in the Spurs' decision to become more offensive at the cost of defense. Bonner is a player, he has nothing to do with that decision. He was a ty defender before management decided to go offensive, it just happened that was his strength in meaningless games.

I agree. Horry might be more responsible though. He got Pop infatuated with the idea of a stretch 4. But Horry was a good power forward that could hit 3's, not a power forward that could only hit 3's.

Stoudamire was pretty good running the point until Pop told him to be a scorer instead of a distributor.

That was what, all of 1 or 2 games maybe before he fell off the ledge?

You know, I never thought about that before, but you're right. Pop is jonesing for some Horry action-satisfaction™.

Just let it go, Pop. Let it go...

I's go w/ Elson. I still remember flashbacks of the Spurs/Suns series of him blowing easy layups and dunks.
