Yeah, he'll never get closer than this again. Hopefully he has the dignity to let it go...
Even though I hate the Lakers, I give you props for having Bon Iver- "Holocene" on your profile

    40 min

    25/14/2 blocks

Duncan is one of the games great warriors....
This says it all! If the role players would've carried their weight, we'd be in the Finals now!

Dramatic change is inevitable & necessary.

The big 3 are snake bit. You're never out of a playoff series against the Spurs. Our opponent's preparation must include the Spurs propensity for meltdown and choke.

    2 backdoor sweeps. What's next, blowing a 3-0 lead?

Duncan looked like a s of himself this series. I hate to see him that slow and un-athletic with no lift off the ground. If he retires I won't be mad at him. We aren't sinning it next year anyways. The dog days of the Spurs are upon us.

I don't get why anyone would say he "should" retire. If he wants to play next year (or the next couple), why not? He's not going to ask for a crazy amount of money or anything, and he still contributes more than the average big in the league.

We all know Kobe doesn't have any dignity. He'll be out there with a walker jacking up shots if that's what it takes to break the scoring record.

The said part to all of this is that this was probably his best chance to get ring #5.

How many championships does Chuck have?
Come on, he put the Dream Team on his back and, against all odds, got them past . . . Nigeria.

His crowning achievement (well, as a basketball player).

Why would Duncan not want to get paid? He still balls his ass off... Spurs should pay him, look elsewhere or walk away.

Why should he take less? Dude still is a steal at 15 mill a year... WTF? We gonna pay him Bonner money? I don't give a about the Spurs finances actually. You guys worry about to much that is out of your control.. How the do you make it through the damn day?

This series didn't fail because of Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili! Give'em another run. I can't say that this is our last chance at number 5. If the ROLE players would've performed their jobs, there would be no need for Tim to play 40 minutes. Our stars played well, they just didn't get any consistent help. Ibaka, Thabo, Perk, and Collison helped their stars to victory. Ask the Heat what happens when the role players don't play a role!

    Yeah true.

This was the ideal year to retire too. Shortened season, had what it took to win it this year, good stacked team.

    It all was there.

It would suck to see Duncan go out on a ed up super washed up note.

the SPurs can content as long as Duncan plays - the day Duncan retires I'm not sure how much the Spurs can do.
The Spurs would not be much if Duncan retired.

    This.

Timmy still better than 90% of the bigs in the NBA. Spurs need to get a physical big to pair with him next season.
It's amazing how well he is still playing. I remember watching Ewing late in his career at around this same age 36 against the Heat in the playoffs and he was basically reduced to a 15 foot jumper.. He could no longer rebound or defend or play major minutes. Tim can still score on the block, he can still shoot the jumper, he can still rebound and defend.... He still has game left...

A 5th ring would be gravy but he doesn't really need it to elevate himself any further. He is 36 and secured as the best PF of all time and a top 10 player ever..

I can't see Tim wanting to go out like this-he'll probably play out his contract-who knows.....he may yet give 1 for the thumb.

My High School team had a better shot than some of those scrubs the Dream Team played.. They were asking for autographs during the game...

The Spurs were +22 in his time on the floor and -49 in his time on the bench this series. Things are going to get really ugly really fast if Tim retires.
