    not at all. There's even discussion of "cafeteria" Catholics (divorce, birth control, etc) separate from doctrinaire purist hard ass Catholics like Douthat so the CC doesn't have to bother with the cafeteria crowd.

    American RCs aren't garden variety, they're the cafeteria Catholics. in the broader context of the RC Church, Douthat couldn't be more mainstream.

    I just love it that Christians play the victim card when people insist the government not legislate based on their beliefs. Nobody is preventing you from practicing your religion, they're preventing you from forcing your religion on others, which is NOT YOUR ING RIGHT!
