Portland's 6th man is Sasha Pavlovic. Go there.

" Mike Finley will be a great teammate to the young players. He is the consummate professional and he will immediately start in front of Danny Green. He can also take Tiago's place and give us more versatility when other teams play certain lineups. This is a no-brainer."

I thought Fin burnt the Spurs bridge by requested a trade to the Celtics / a "contender"?
    This.

Not sure why he's doing this. It can't be money, because he STILL will be getting a $5m paycheck from Cuban for the next THREE seasons, including this one. His contract had a 10 year payout if he were waived, and he was amnestied in 2005.

I forget this dude played with us sometimes, he was supposed to be such a marquee signing in 2006. I guess he did average like 10ppg his first two seasons but after 2007 he was absolute garbage and he turned his back on our team to play on a "contender." him
He's the reason Manu was a sixth man after 2005. He was garbage of the bench so Pop in his usual reverse thinking had to start him.

I would sign him to some ten day deals and then when Kawhi or Jax comes back we that are cutting him in order to be contenders.

Yes, the first two seasons (Especially the first) he was still able to play some, he was servicable and could hit some timely shots. After those two years NO! He could hardly even move out there it seemed and was only a long jump shooter at BEST! I liked him the first two years some, after that FORGET IT. Granted this is way back to 07! THIS IS NOW! HE IS TEN TIMES WORSE.

You'll see Beno in a Spurs uni before you see Finley. Pop remembers guys who whine in public about minutes.

It's the only way Finley was decent. He simply gave no effort in a game if he wasn't given the starting job.

Wish we kept Jackson in '04. Instead we brought in Hedo, the guy who was choking for the Spurs long before Bonner. And Finley - well I remember more bad games from him than good ones.

This is the moron who signed Finley to that last two-year deal when he was already completely and totally done. In my opinion, Finley is a big reason why the Spurs didn't win a le after 2007.

Pop's affinity for him was well chrnicled, but it never, EVER made any sense.

no! This guy is up there with Bonner and He Who Shall Not Be Named as my least favorite Spurs of all time.

This guy is still trying to make a comeback? Go away, Finley.

Hey like I said before atleast he has a few playoff games (The Mavs series he hit timely shots and had some crazy dunks) where he hit some big shots! Denver he hit what 8 threes in a key game? I won't rank him nearly as bad as Bonner, especially in the playoffs or crunch time. I do not hate Fins at all, but his last few years boy he could not drive anymore nor play any D.

He could not play a Lick at all in 08 and beyond, he should just realize he is done. He has been done since 06 IMO, had some moments in 07 but man 06 was his last servicable year IMO as possibly a key role player.

Oh I appreciate some of the things he did here, but I can't stand by a player who complained about not getting playing time when he got all the unnecessary minutes he did the previous seasons. That pretty much put him at the top of my list. Oh, and the fact that Pop chose him over Bruce Bowen.

OH LORD CHOSING him over BOWEN, that there is a sin! I agree on that part! I think Bowen had a few more years LEFT ON D! I could have sworn Bowen got swung out THOUGH FOR RICHARD! I still remember that trade today! I think you should hate him the most there. Bowen could have helped a year or so more though IMO, atleast as much AS did here lol.

I see in 07 playoffs he made 44-105 (Lead the playoffs) threes he attempted, you tell me when Bonner makes more than 15 or so in a postseason then we can talk about him being nearly as hated as he is lol. I agree with what you said though.

Finely just doesn't know when it's over. The rest of the NBA does.

The rest of the NBA was about two and a half years ahead of Popovich.

Sad. but true. Pop had a hard man-crush on Finley.

He was completely done 2/3 years ago. I can't imagine he any is better right now.

He should simply retire enjoy the money he stole from Cuban.

My memory is probably off, but I think he's still getting paid that contract through this year.

On further rumination, that can't possibly be right.
