Whoever hires Chip Kelly will be making a HUGE mistake. Bill O'Brien might actually succeed in the NFL.
Chargers are looking at Tom Gamble, Marc Ross, Steve Keim, and Jimmy Raye III for GM.... as for head coach, Ray Horton, Bill O'Brien, Bruce Arians, and Ken Whisenhunt have been mentioned as possibilities, wouldn't be surprised if Mike Zimmer and Vic Fangio get a look....

If the Cardinals' lose Keim to another team that'll be funny as . They should have fired Whiz and Graves a year ago and promoted Keim before multiple other teams were interested.
I agree with O'Brien. All of his talent abandoned the program and he still managed 8-4 (albeit in the big 10). Still, overachieving with an untalented roster is a direct reflection on the coach.
Carolina is a great fit. Might not equal success, but Newton will own statistically. After that, you're correct. His system is far too gimmicky, and while versatile, the idea of fast is undercut by the entire NFL being fast.
I also have my doubts about whether or not Kelly wants any part of the NFL (could be very wrong). He has the best facilities and resources available at Oregon, is viewed as a good by the school, and plays in a BCS bowl every year. He's also smart enough to know he'd have to reinvent his system since it wouldn't work in the NFL. Unless it's a huge pay raise I don't see why he'd leave a program that's gonna be preseason ranked top 3 next year for a rebuilding project in the NFL.
Im surprised no one mentioned two of the coaches fired are black: Lovie Smith and Romeo Crennel
Twitter has blown up that Reid will be named Cardinals coach.
Hope this is true...not interested in him, Koetter, or Lovie Smith as Bills coach.
Cardinals fans...Bills being linked to whisenhunt. What are his goos and bad qualities.
I would take Turner as OC and Crennel as DC though...I could live with Lovie being HC at that point![]()
I have yet to see a good quality in Whisenhunt. I've seen every game but maybe a few and I'm constantly questioning play calling, player development, his personnel emphasis, his offensive a en, and his ability to bring inequality offensive staff members. His early round offensive selections have sucked, he's failed to develop a QB in 7 years, he completely ignored the offensive line, and has never developed a consistent rushing attack, even when the offense thrived with Warner.
There's less developed offensive talent now than when he took over, and he inherited a young roster, and now it's just old.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but he was abysmal. Warner and Horton propped his ass up.
Krzyzewski Theory tbh.
If it's true the Cardinals are hiring Reid and that Heckert guy the Browns fired, how bad this team is gonna be. Andy Reid was one of the worst case scenarios. Gonna be Denny Green all over again.
It's a typical Cardinal move--safe name, status quo.
Whisenhunt was a departure from this. Shame he seems to have jaded them from doing it again when the obvious hire is already on staff. Horton is an unknown as head coach, but the known of him flipping one of the worst defenses in the NFL into one of the best in just two seasons should make him the no-brainer hire since he already has the respect of the top-5 defense.
We've had some interesting GM names mentioned. Spanos said he has already contacted teams in the playoffs. All this to me points to Mike Zimmer. He did not deny the appointment of someone experienced such as Gruden or Cowher too. Norv is a good man, and will make a good (not great) but good OC somewhere. Nice guys finish last, as has been shown with Norv.
Goodbye, Norval, it was fun (not really)![]()
If you talk to Browns fans you'd think Heckert was the greatest GM in NFL history.
Horton getting a second interview today while Reid is interviewing with KC.
Some NFL Network guy said the ReidToArizona talk came from Reid's camp in a power ploy to gain expedited leverage, a tactic Reid's former boss Holmgren employed with Seattle.
Hopefully that pisses the Cardinals off and they lose any interest in Reid. I don't want them to hire someone who sympathizes with dog killers and heroin addicts.
Words cannot express how pissed I'll be when/if Horton leaves and becomes one of the better defensive-minded head coaches elsewhere while the top-5 defense he built in AZ goes south as s like Reid hire offensive guys to coach defensive players/schemes.
I'm not sure why teams are so interested in Reid. No one underachieved with more talent the past 2 years as much as Reid has. Reid w/o McNabb isn't any better than Whisenhunt w/o Warner.
Agreed. He had a pro-bowl caliber RB and a fragile QB and ran between 33-40% of the time, exposing his QB to injury and diminishing efficiency of the offense.
The entire Holmgren tree just needs flushed. They're lazy, they don't adapt- they're dinosaurs.
